Edinburgh won, so off to Fife we go
Edit - Title changed to use this one for general discussion of all ties, outside of the usual GDTs.

Could be a tricky one especially up there. We have done well against the opposite conference but play off time anything can happen.

A home 1st leg may have been better for Panthers, but had to pencil in the Sunday 2nd leg at home, as "we wiil rock you" is on at the arena on the Wed 27th to Sat 30th. Can't under estimate Fife as they are strong at home, but a draw or better in Fife should make the tie ours.

I think I'd rather have Fife than the Caps but Hull would have been my first choice out of the Gardiner conference.

Edinburgh have done well in games against the giants. They could be an outside bet for making the finals. Particularly as the Giants don't have the best playoff history.

How were the play-offs worked out??? According to the EIHL website the league finished - Nottingham, Belfast, Sheffield, Coventry, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Fife, Braehead, Dundee, Hull. 1v8, 2v7, 3v6 & 4v5 would mean Nottm/Braehead Belfast/Fife Sheff/Edinburgh Cov/Cardiff.

I can see Caps and Blaze MAYBE pulling off a shock. But I think the favourites have to be us, Giants, Sheffield and Devils.
I want to see a Giants vs Devils match, they've been hectic this season!

Just looking at the playoff format and saw that if Panthers win against Fife they will play the Steelers/ Blaze in the semi-final if Braehead can beat the Devils.
After the quarter finals the teams are re-seeded based on their quarter final ranking, so if Panthers win they stay number 1, likewise if Giants win they would stay 2nd and if Braehead were to win they would stay 3rd pushing Blaze/Steelers into the lowest seed.
Panthers as highest seed would then play lowest seed and Giants would play Braehead.

Whoever turns up this weekend will get through. I want a blaze win personally but maybe that's because I'm hoping to face them in te Semis

To be fair ,i think we should get whoever falls into our slot not just get the lowest seed once its all started.

However,if Cardiff as 6th seed beat Braehead,i'm sure i read somewhere that Cardiff would take over Braeheads 3rd seed spot. Don't really see why that should be but if so it would appear we are bound to get Sheff/Cov if we make it to the semi final ?
On that basis,it would also mean that Fife would be the No1 seed if they beat Panthers !!!!

Don't think seeding is of much importance when were down to so few teams ( other than like Tennis ) just that placings in the league set up the quarter final games. Wouldn't complain if we got Sheffield (on qualifying) as they could watch us in the final.lol
