If they win tomorrow then they will probably play us in the semi final, but if they lose then they will avoid us and give us the chance to win our conference! How rude

Would we? Seeds stay the same as of QF so if the top 4 seeds get through then well still play sheffield regardless of tomorrow's results? With them being guaranted 4th seed....

Yes, but we'll avoid them if the gardiner winner gets knocked out. But if the top 4 seeds, being Us, Belfast, Braehead and Sheffield all get through then we'll play them. The game tomorrow has no impact on who we play in the semis? I apologise if I'm just not clicking but that's the way I've read it :/

Has some impact yeah. We can only win the conference now by a win for us and a Belfast loss or Belfast going to overtime, there are lots of permutations still which is still great at this time of the year but really we are splitting hairs over our path, do we want to play Sheffield in the semi or not? Who would we really like to to play? Cardiff or Coventry? who do you want to play and who do you want to avoid? Me personally? no one! we`ll take em all on, just line em up. Put them all on the ice at once for all i care.

Do we play winner of 4and 5 OR if 4th wins and 7th seed beats 2nd ,do they alter it so we get the lower seed? Otherwise I agree with the fact that tomorrow's game changes nothing.

I fancy Coventry making the weekend. They have been a much better side recently, and henrick is banging in goals for fun.

We have to get through the QF first. What happened to 'take one game at a time'?

At least Simmsey won't be playing Roll Over Beethoven by ELO.

We have to get through the QF first. What happened to 'take one game at a time'? Absolutely. Let's not get cocky now and assume that we will automatically beat one of the 'lower' teams... Edinburgh's 2-1 win down here should have taught us that!

We have to get through the QF first. What happened to 'take one game at a time'? That's the players job. We're just discussing the title thread. Important to know what if's etc,,,,,especially this season with all the format change. Personally like Tennis I think if you beat the number 1 seed you should take their spot. Not ,as I understand , have it re-jigged so we get the lowest seed each round.

I'm confused though as Elite League site have Panthers as top of the conference, points level but with 2 more wins than Belfast. So how come Panthers have to rely on Shuff taking points of Belfast? If that's the case Shuff wouldn't be trying too hard tonight.....

Some of the league tables ive seen are abysmal at showing the true picture. Edinburghs website is the worst but i cant believe the Elite League website has it wrong too. The first criteria is regulation wins and the best table ive seen that is a true reflection of how it really stands is this: www.dundeestars.com/2012_13/statistics/teams/elite-conferences.asp

cheers, it's pretty useless if the Elite League can't even get the tables right. Adding in an extra column for total "regulation" wins would help.
Ok then, well done to Belfast Giants on winning the Erhardt Conference. Panthers should probly have won it, but we are just glad to have finally won that elusive league title.

They haven't won it yet. If we win and they fail to beat steelers in regulation then we take the conference. At least I think that's right. It's all getting a bit confusing.

For us to win the conference, I believe that we need either to win in regulation and Belfast not to get a regulation win, or just to get at least 1 more point than Belfast. It's not so much this conference format that I've got a problem with... it's the usual cack-handed approach from the EIHL towards actually telling people what's going on that bugs me.

Odd that Braehead can fall below other teams from their group in the main table but take second seed...

This actual 2nd/3rd seed business for Braehead for a start.
