Firstly to the moderators, if you would let this thread be a sticky for a week or so id be really grateful, but if you want to move it then thats fine too, i just dont know where to put it at the minute.
While we all look forward to what hopefully will be one of the best few weeks in our lives and history, for my family and myself its tinged with a little sadness.
We`ve been Panthers fans for nine years now and about 4 years ago we persuaded my Dad to come to a few games with us after my step mum died and Dad was at a bit of a loose end, we thought it might cheer him up a bit to get out of the house but we couldnt believe how he took to it, like a duck to water. For me personally it was great to have three generations of our family doing something together and we have had some great nights watching games around the country.(Although Dad never liked Hull, dont know why!).
Without going into too many details, Dad was re-diagnosed with Cancer about a month after the playoffs ended last year and was unable to see most games this season. Sadly he passed away in Hayward House at the City Hospital on January the 31st, he would have so loved to see this league title but one consolation for us all is that the last Panthers game he managed to see was a win over Sheffield in November.
Anyway, to the point of the post,
On Fathers Day, June 16th we are doing a sponsored walk in his memory to raise funds for the incredible place that is Hayward House Palliative care unit. My daughter has set up a Just Giving page for us to collect donations so if you feel that you could give something (honestly, £1 would do) we would be eternally grateful. To all my friends on here who have already donated , thankyou and lets hope its a weekend to remember.
You may recognise Dad from the photo on the page, we all used to sit, and still do, in Block 11.
Thanks, Darren
