Like Zuk says, I like em, never a dull moment with them this year. Started right from signing Danton.Time to get under Hirsch's skin on Saturday.." Last game of the season ( against Coventry) can't hold nothing back now"

I almost feel sorry for Coventry...almost. Clearly they are now being run on a tight budget with very average crowds they just seem to be missing genuine quality. Losing Beleskey was the nail in the coffin for their season.
For what it's worth I think they have a hard working team and lack of effort hasn't been their downfall. Hirsch and a shortage of quality has been.
Got to give Braehead credit for turning their troubles around and getting into the semi final. On current form they are definitely contenders for two trophies this year.

If Coventry are being run on such a tight budget, how come they have a spare import? (They sat Bayrack last night to make room for the new guy). Isn't running with an extra import a sign of being one of those nasty rich overspending teams?

After last nights game I was interested to see which teams were taking the most penalties in the league this season, the average per game is as follows
1. Coventry 22.81 2. Hull 20.44 3. Sheffield 20.27 4. Belfast 19.16 5. Nottingham 19.08 6. Fife 18.08 7. Cardiff 16.03 8. Dundee 13.03 9. Edinburgh 12.84 10. Braehead 9.03
I wasn't surprised by Coventry, but it does surprise me how few PIM's the Scottish teams take, especially Braehead.
Are the refs more lenient up there or is it the style of hockey they play?
Also suprised how well down Cardiff are this season.....they need Voth back. ;D

No real surprise there shaggy , the mini leagues have split us up for more games played against, our league we are up against more arch rivals , like Coventry , Belfast , Cardiff and Sheffield , against those teams it is always going to produce penalties for each team ,
I just do not think that the Scottish teams play each other to the same level of intensity maybe later in future years they will as they all have not been in this league long apart from the Caps . so that league table of penalties looks about correct being as the clan have been playing men short for most games this season they cannot afford to take penalties .
odd one out as you say is cardiff

Interesting stats Doom.
First thought would be that average PIMs will be skewed by major penalties such as Game and Match disposals. These don't really have anything to do with referee leniency. I'd imagine that it is the usual suspects who account for most of the Majors (look who got chucked out last night). Therefore looks like it is more down to the emotional volatility of the playing staff rather than the impact of the ref. if you can break the PIM stats down into minor pens only, that would be more telling.

Also suprised how well down Cardiff are this season.....they need Voth back. ;D Regards Doom .......or maybe Frank or Michel. I was quite worried about this aspect of Frank's game when he signed, but to date he's been reasonably disciplined and hasn't taken too many stupid penalties. I don't mind players playing with an edge and trying the odd thing on, what really annoys me is the stupid, selfish, petulent penalties that some players take. I'm afraid this is one area Jeff Legue tends to let himself down. He's a very good hockey player who most teams would want, but when things aren't going well he tends to get frustrated and can get a bit handy with the use of his stick. Regards Doom

A quite remarkable piece of blog trash from a particularly bitter Blaze fan. Seems that, like our friends up the M1, some of their fans have an unhealthy obsession with us and feel the need to shoehorn us into any discussion. chasingthedragons.wordpress.com/2013/01/29/between-the-gutter-and-the-stars/Of note, Now whilst I don't doubt some fans are quick to turn when things aren't going too well isn't that common in all sports fanbases? Can a fanbase that still produces the largest and most consistent home and away crowds in the league, after a 56 year wait for league sucess, ever be described as "fickle" though?

I'd say Panther fans were very forgiving of the team, sometimes too much so.
Either way, it's certainly a bit rich, considering the direction the Blaze crowds have gone since they stopped winning the league most years.

Told you, Thommo needs to step down. Team and tactics are wrong. Plus he cant control himself, let alone the team

Highlights - clear attack at the end. Its becoming more and more common. Total lack of respect by the Blaze IMO. Game's over and theyre jumping players for no reason as far as I can see and throwing punches after the lines men intervene.

If it was guthrie and Domish that jumped the clan they wouldnt have got match penalties. Will be interesting to see if Thommo gets a ban for not controlling his players yet again, how many warnings does he need.

I love a good hockey fight/bench clearance but this is totally unacceptable. Going after someone after a match is over should carry a long suspension. Are people on here forgetting what Blaze did to our NM last season?
It's a disgrace and there is no place for this in the sport. If you're going to fight do it during a game and if you've just been beaten then take it like a man.

Also a big well done to Benn Olson - the whole Braehead team on the ice to choose from and he picks out that big lad (5'8") Sam Zajac.
Top work tough guy

3 - Campbell, 19:24 - Match Penalty, 25 min 3 - Egener, 19:24 - Game Misconduct-Abuse, 20 min 3 - Olson, 19:24 - Excessive Roughness - Match, 25 min The above suggests that the infringements occurred during the game!!

From what was said by both Braehead and Coventry fans those times are incorrect, 19:24 being the time of the forth Braehead goal and the offences not occuring until after the final hooter.

Does anyone think the whole thing was brilliant and we need to see much more of it? (minus the part where punches are throw after the linos are in, that is the moment the fight stops imo) How frustrated does this blaze team seem this year, they're constantly wound up. great fun to watch Also why was the check at 1:24 called? good solid check to me, clan player should have had his head up.
