Heavy snow is predicted from Friday onwards, will be very interesting to see if it impacts the schedule this weekend!
With Belfast flying over there attendance will depend on East Midlands being open for business.

I would of thought with no snow forecast for Saturday the airports should both be open as that should give them plenty of time after even heavy snowfall on Friday.

I know one thing, I'm not buying tickets for Saturday until Saturday and I know the roads are passable. I hope it's ok because I'm really looking forward to this game.

I think the only risk to Saturday will be Belfast not being able to get here due to weather there.

Don't Belfast fly to Heathrow/Gatwick anyway because of their deal with Air Lingus?
So not only will they have to rely on the airport being ok, they then have to get a coach from London to Notts.

Think you're right Big Lad - Aer Lingus out of Belfast only goes to Heathrow or Gatwick of the UK airports

So they might come by ferry after all

Im not sure, but i thought they used the ferry for the scottish road trips, and flights for English/Welsh games.

Scotland trips - Stena Hull / Sheffield - Robin Hood Airport or East Midlands Coventry Nottingham / East Mids or Birmingham Cardiff - London / Bristol or Cardiff
Depending which flight company offers the best deal.
This weekend will likely be either East Mids or Birmingham since we have Coventry on Sunday. MET office can't make up their minds if we are getting snow or rain so no idea what problems we will have this side....
Hoping none!

just looked at live flights out of belfast which look to be ok at their end. There is a flight to birmingham scheduled at 17:50 which is at the point of 'check in'. As above, Birmingham are currently not accepting flights in, so if Giants are flying today, they could be in for a delay.

Met office say that snow should stop later tonight and only flutters tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

Looking at Flights this morning Belfast City is open. Flights to Gatwick departed OK. East Midlands and Birmingham are on Schedule. Heathrow are delayed or cancelled. London Heathrow BA1425 07:05 Estimated 11:00 London Heathrow EI30 07:20 Departed 7.50 Manchester AF6469 07:25 Departed 7.54 Manchester BE471 07:25 Departed 7.54 East Midlands BE361 07:30 Departed 8.11am London Heathrow BA1431 07:35 Cancelled Birmingham BE403 09:05 Scheduled Estimated 9.30am Birmingham AF6555 09:05 Scheduled Estimated 9.30am Some flights are departing up to 30mins late. So it all depends on which Airport they are flying to. Then of course the roads to Nottingham!

Both games in Sheffield are going ahead, the only way they weren't is if the car park wasn't cleared but the arena have employed extra staff to make sure this does happen.
Re: Belfast, you never know they might have had a contingency and got the ferry, and bussed it. Especially with their deal with Stena Line.
If they are flying, I'm pretty sure it's Birmingham they'll fly into, I think last time we had a game against then delayed they flew into Birmingham.

Looks as though it may be flight BE363, Belfast City to EMA. Arrive EMA 12.55.
I am travelling up the M1 from Leicester. Any advice on which road is likely to be the better bet into Nottingham, the A453 or the A52?

Ive been out on the 453 in Clifton this morning John, its as clear as a bell, as are most of the major roads too, i would assume thats the case all the way out to the M1. Well done Nottingham City Council!

Panthers announced: BELFAST GAME ON! Belfast Giants plan to arrive around lunchtime so everything is expected to go according to plan! Back street roads around the city are still snowy, but the main road is clear ad travel should be fine! The main problem for fans will be getting out there own drives, so do leave plenty of time for travel!!

Anybody from Mansfield fancy doing a car-share for this one? Thinking safety in numbers. I had an horrendous journey out of notts last time with rear wheel drive and only got home cos had a mate who kept jumping out and pushing when we got stuck. Can use my car, should you wish to be on pushing standby, else visa-versa?
