It seems Braehead are not living up to the hype put upon them at the start of the year and it doesnt surprise me in the slightest.
breaheads team is set up the same as last year, one stacked top line, average fillers in the rest of the team and an average at best netminder (zemlak is not amazing just because of one good game against us last year despite what many of you think).
because of this i was very surprised to see/hear people saying they will romp the north conference and therefore the league, i never saw this happening and am no where near being convinced now.
i know it is early days yet and things may change but i just dont see it happening.
thoughts?

Yep mentioned their bad start a few weeks ago and all I got was 'who cares' but agree, it's been a poor start compounded by 7-3 loss tonight!

They have serious defensive issues or bad goaltending; maybe both! Don't think they have a full quota of imports either. Doubt very much they are going to win the league.

Well for my money Braehead aren't going to walk their conference like many people thought they would,i think Fife will win it,with the league title being a fight between Panthers and Giants.
The playoffs will throw up some interesting quarter final pairings though.

It seems to me a lot of people were way of the mark with their predictions for league champions this year. It must be down to that nasty Mr Black pushing all their profits to those pesky Panthers, lol. I can honestly say I never thought the league was Braehead's for the taking anyway.

One 1st/2nd liner in the NHL is like two 3rd/4th liners.

This Fife fan has been saying nearly all summer and certainly since the Clans full squad was complete that they will not win the league.
I do think they will win our conference but this depends on whether they get that 11th import in the D man that they desperately need. Can they really afford another import with what they have in resources on that first line and now with Farmer? If they go with what they have now for the rest of the season then they won't even win our conference let alone the league.
Their D this year is Birnstall, Maunu and Hanson compared to Bannister, Wedderburn and Jorgensen last year. Not exactly an upgrade and whilst Zemlak is a very decent netminder he has got to be thinking what he has let himself in for having probably believed that he was going to be behind a better defence than he had in Fife last season.
Unfortunately the result in Sheffield will probably have them looking at their squad and I think that once they get the resources in from a few home games, they have only had 1 home game so far, then that 11th import will be in.
However as Fife are only running with 9 imports just now I think we will be up to 10 by sometime in November and that will change the direction of our conference again but it is still too early to say how it will pan out in the long run but I still believe that our conference will be a lot tighter than people expect

Due the outrageous lack of home games Braehead must have cash flow problems. Assuming they get decent crowds that will help and allow the to review the squad. Must be a nightmare for the club to have spent so long on the road. I'm assuming the rink was booked with various events, hence the lockout from home games.

One 1st/2nd liner in the NHL is like two 3rd/4th liners. And how do you come to that conclusion?
