As it says sheff release Corey pecker , didn't live upto his wage demands and reputation. So we don't react to the weekend just gone by bringing in MikeO!! Good decision, totally abject for me. Finner needs to find a replacement quickly though. That's 2 imports light now.

After a month? seems a little hasty to me, wasn't he one of Finnerty's main targets that he's been chasing for years? On the other side, it does free up a big wage to try and take advantage of the Lockout...

He looked slow and his passing was often just behind where it should have been causing a loss in momentum on breaks out of defence......Not what you expect from one of your 'star' forwards.
I don't think Finner had much choice on this one, it was a bit of a no brainer.
Hopefully we can find someone who will be capable of scoring the 30 goals we were hoping for from Pecker, although I still think we're conceding far too many.

jeez a player axed after two defeats and scoring at over a point a game, which just happened to be his number 1 target all summer.

Those of us who have watched Pecker on a regular basis would agree that this is the correct decision. A point a game it maybe, but he's only scored 1 goal and scoring is what he was brought in to do. This should free up a big wage and allow Finner to bring in an impact player, I'm happy with that. Regards Doom

It suggests in that Star article that fitness and stamina isn't what it should be, copied this from Steeltalk...
From the 8 games, the 3rd period count:
Won 1 Draw 2 Lost 5
Goals scored 3 Goals conceded 11
That would suggest we find it tough going in the 3rd period for some reason. Maybe fitness and stamina is an issue??

Regards Doom Hes come from 5 seasons in the swiss B league, who only have four imports per team per season, was increased recently from 2 although its better supported that the EIHL the standard of import isnt that high compared to the NLA. Wages wouldnt be that big. So i would be too quick saying Pecker will free up huge ammounts of wage space.

I would certainly think he was on the wages of a 1st liner, so that's what i'd expect to be freed up along with the wages we've not been paying to date for an 11th import. Regards Doom

........along with the wages we've not been paying to date for an 11th import. Does it not occur to you that maybe the reason why you haven't signed an 11th import forward is that you may not be able to afford it or maybe, give that Coventry are hanging in there with a reduced squad of imports, Tony Smith is happy running with similar numbers? Hey, you never know, perhaps Pecker has been released to fund Mike O'Connor?

Has that '11th import wage' not been spent on the extra Brit though Doom (meyers)? or has Smith said that it's still available?

When the squad was put together the suggestion was that the wages for an 11th import would be available, but with the depth of Brits we could wait to see what type of player Finner would need.....If any at all.
