Hull Stingrays hosted the Cardiff Devils tonight in a Challenge Cup match... and ran out 7-5 winners. Jerome Tendler getting a natural hat-trick as well! www.eliteleague.co.uk/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=1288With the Rays running the Panthers a bit closer than might have been expected on Saturday (I believe we only got the last 2 goals to take us off a 2-2 tie in the last couple of minutes or so?)... does this Hull team look a bit more capable than people were expecting? Here's hoping... maybe the 'unstoppable' Braehead Clan (allegedly a shoo-in for the league title given their 'obvious' mastery of their conference) might have some tougher opposition than expected? Looks like Cardiff's PP was high-scoring tonight... no less than 5 goals scored with the Devils on a man advantage! Unfortunately (for Cardiff) 3 of those goals were for Hull, but there you go! ;D

The key for Hull will be consistency on the road. Theyve got more travel than anyone this year. Whilst tonight is a good result, I still expect them to be mid table in their conference. But I havent seen them play just yet so cannot pass full judgment

Still too early to make any real judgements on a team's potential for the season.
In my opinion.

Cardiff must have had the back up in net...
Surely no team could put 6 past the best net minder in the history of the world Phil Osaer!!!

Still early but there has been some major surprises for me so far: Capitals beating Clan 4-3, which you could explain by it being the start of the season and lines arent settled, running a short bench ect. however the day before Clan beat Giants 3-2. It also seems like there has been a number of close games and could see Cardiff upsetting teams this season, I honestly think that the teams in the Gardiner conference have really stepped up and if the recent games are anything to go by then its going to be an interesting season.

I dont think the Devils beating any team will be an upset. They always have a good team and a very hard rink to go to and win in.

Surely no team could put 6 past the best net minder in the history of the world Phil Osaer!!! Apparently Patrick Roy and Dominic Hasek clean his skates and the HHOF are considering dropping Terry Sawchuk in order to make space for him.

I would of thought all teams would want to get off to a good start early in the season and get soem good results? I don't buy into this we won't try as hard in the cup. This game was a Thursday neither team had a big game the next day and needed the rest, I just think Hull are much improved.
