Wasnt that called several names though last incarnation being the B&H cup wasnt it? Think the panthers won that 3 times too... Nope, see above and the links below. You are thinking of the Autumn Cup that we won in 95/96 as part of our first Grand Slam and again in the 2000/2001 season (as well as the Challenge Cup) to make it a 4 Trophy Grand Slam. ;D en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Challenge_Cup_(UK_ice_hockey)en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autumn_Cup

Ted, what is correcting Texpef anything to do with Trolling. Surely you are trolling by trying to provoke my response on a subject I have given clear & acurate information on?

Still think you'll find Glynn that you did not win this particular trophy 3 times in a row as the first cup provided by the Express newspaper was a smaller cup. I read somewhere that the current trophy was purchased by the elite league in it's first year but can't remember where I read it. Maybe the original smaller cup is in the back of a cupboard somewhere in Sheffield.

Well considering I had a photo taken with it the year Paul Kruse played for us in the ISL era, circa 2001, I seriously doubt it.

Panthers have had to buy a replacement, would Sheffield have been able to afford to after the Grand Sham? So you basically are buying the Historic Challenge Cup so you can show it off forever and replacing it with what? Probably something far less Historic and worth nothing in hockey terms. Whatever it may be, it will still be better than the Cheese board charity thingy.

I maybe wrong with the Elite league buying it. However the original trophy was smaller. When you beat us in the Docklands in 2000 it was definately a smaller one. We joked about it at the time with friends from Sheffield that we were playing for the eggcup. Perhaps 2001 was the current ones first outing.

Probably a good thing the Steelers didn't get to keep any trophy... would have been pawned long ago!

There's one thing worse than a troll, and that's a troll who denies his trolling. You know what you're doing, behave. You didn't get to keep it because you couldn't afford to buy it.
