surely if his nose was so bad and needs surgery he'd have been wearing a face mask.
if you ask me he got what he deserved.... you have to ask, what was Hewitt doing that led to the incident? was that legal?

Not a fan of Hewitts but sucker punches have no place in the game and I do not believe Finnerty threw any either. League has already set precedent in previous rulings so it will be intersting to see what they hand out.

i don't agree with sucker punching however, this was a warm up game, i don't think disciplianry action should be taken in a non league game, these games were not governed by the Elite league as official games. what would the action have been if an asiago player had done the same to one of our guys? there would be no legaue involvement and we'd have had to like it and lump it...
Also, whats wrong with letting Leeb and Hewitt sort their differences next time they meet? the old fashioned way.

Hewitt got mugged because he checked Chalmers from behind, shoved him over again and ran his mouth. He got what he deserved. If you do things like that then you should be ready for retribution never mind against arguably the toughest team in the league.

Sheffield crying to the league again, whats new?
and because it is sheffield im expecting no less than 10 games, anybody else, it would be 3 at max.
hope it hurt hewitt, hopefully he'll think twice before acting like a prat next time...highly doubt it though.
ps Brad Leeb is in my fantasy team so i hope he isnt banned for too long!

Surely there must be someone with either a vested interest in the Steelers or want to see them do well in the League? Why do they always get preferential treatment over other teams when it comes to getting players banned?

This kind of situation makes me sick, it's an absolute disgrace and personally i find it totally unacceptable and saddening that i couldn't be there to see it.

i don't think Steelers get preferential treatment more that they are the most likley club to go to the league and moan about incidents, which the league are then obliged to look into and act upon.
however in this case, the Match penalty he got (deservedly) requires a review. so i don't think this is Sheffield moaning or preferential treatment. #my argument is that this is not a league game and should not be disciplined as though it was.

Leeb deserves a ban and was out of order.
Hewitt hit Charmers from behind with a hit that had him ejected from the game. He then did something in the ensuing free for all that resulted in one of the leeb brothers hitting the ice and that was when Brad Leeb lost it.

Sounds like he sought his own retribution, as previously mentioned maybe hewitt will man up and face leeb/chambers like a hockey player but wont hold my breath as i havent seen it yet...
Bulldog!!!... more like a lapdog if you ask me...

Thought it was rich coming from Finnerty the cheap shot king! lol Don't agree with this, whilst he is an agitator and a bloody good one at that, he has only ever had 3 cheap shots marked down on his brawl card since he has played in the EIHL, and those three are all for slashes. Whilst he is a love to hate player, and a massive git, he does most things within the boundaries and always has done, it's just that because he plays for the oppostion that it riles us up. I can't see how the league can review and then ban players during the pre season games. What would have happened if an ENL Stingrays player suckered an EIHL Stingrays player, or an Assiago player did the same to a Panthers player, what action could be taken then? I appreciate it hasn't happened but the pre season should be a level playing field, and if action cannot be taken against every team involved in the pre season then it shouldn't be taken at all. I personally also see it as tough luck, it's the teams' own fault for playing rivals for pre season, they should be looking elsewhere like we have done for a while, I wouldn't be happy if we ended up playing Hull again or Braehead etc in pre season, 1 because we play them so often anyway, and two because of incidents like this. I love fights, and I love the rough stuff more than any other aspect of the game, and I appreciate that pre season isn't the place for it, but the way I see it is that if the teams are dumb enough to play each other then it's their lookout.

Hewitt started it, Leeb ended it! if you ban Leeb you also have to ban Hewitt for his actions!

.....I love the rough stuff more than any other aspect of the game, and I appreciate that pre season isn't the place for it...... I was going to post something along this line the other day after the Devils/Blaze game but half expected the The Cage Forum fight club would climb all over it so bit my lip. Also, I too find it odd that some UK teams choose to play pre-season games against teams they will likely see at least once a month or so throughout the season.

I don't like Hewitt, but Leeb should be banned. No place for sucker punching in hockey, face to face or not at all.

Couldn't agree more Andy, especially in Coventry's case. They played their biggest rivals in Cardiff and Sheffield who they're going to play god knows how many times anyway. I can't understand what they were hoping to achieve.

Video of the incident -
I reckon he'll get the 6 game ban, and he deserves it, sucker punching and repeatedly hitting a player when they are lying defenceless on the ice deserves punishment.

For those who haven't seen it, here it is.
For what it is worth I don't actually think it's that bad, it's not as bad as Kozak on Levers, and probably only about as bad as Payette on McAslan.

Hewitt deserves everything he gets and more... HL Can't say I agree, no matter how much of a thrush-like player Hewitt is. Punching someone when they are lying on the ice, let alone sucker punching them, is not on.
