It looks like we are not going to have an opportunity to give David Alexandre Beauregard a send off. So, on the off chance that he reads The Cage, thank you DAB - you were a true Panthers legend. All the best for the future.

To this day, watching either of his GWG's from the playoffs gives me goosebumps. Fantastic hockey player and people who say players just want to pick up paychecks in the latter parts of their career need to have seen this guy - never took a shift off or coasted. Sometimes as Panthers fans, we can get frustrated at players not giving 100% every game - Beau was never on the end of fan's frustrations. A top class pro and having met him a top class person as well. Always willing to talk to fans and share his hockey stories.
Good luck Beau - you'll be the sort of player we'll recall for many years to come.

Will always be one of my favourite players ever to ice for us. Can't say a bad word about him. Very sad that he's leaving us, but he ended on the most unbelievable high imaginable.
(Does anyone know if he's actually retiring, or is he looking for a team closer to home?)

Thanks DAB.

If Beau is retiring, I think retiring his shirt should be on the table - not necessarily just because of what he's achieved with us, though I think he will go down in Panthers legend, but because he's had such an amazing career and if Panthers #9 is the last shirt he'll ever wear, that's something special.

Please tell me you are joking. You don't seriously expect Panthers to consider for even a second retiring the shirt of a guy who played for us for just two seasons? Shall we retire Nick Toneys' shirt too, or how about Tessier or Bergin. A guy called Terry Kurtenbach wore #9 for Panthers for 7 seasons from 1986 to 93 and was captain for 6 of those. If #9 was ever to be retired it sure as hell wouldn't be for Beauregard.

Agreed Jasper, still amazed that Kurtenbach's shirt was not retired. From memory he often played 50-60 minutes a game, and in those few minutes he was not on the ice, you always thought Panthers would concede.

Well it wasn't. Maybe they could retire it for both of them.
Why do you think the org is so reluctant to retire shirts? There are quite a few candidates from the past?

Thanks for everything DAB, you were a great servant and provided us with some immense moments ...but talk of 'legend' and shirt retirements is a bit much. They're for the elite few. The finest 4 or 5 players to ever play for the club. Your Haddens, your Adeys. Much as I appreciate what he's done for us, he's got a few years to go before shirt retirement should even be considered. I mean, it'd be a huge disrespect to a Mr Kurtenbach for a start.

I hope he does come back at some point - even if it's to do a ceremonial puck drop. Let the guy get the thanks/ovation he deserves.
Legend - a real class act both on and off the ice. Thanks for everything DAB

DAB was a player you always enjoyed watching - if he was on your team. If he wasn't, you were just sat there praying your team didn't do what Cardiff did and leave him wide open to show just WHY he's so good to watch when he's on your side.
100% Effort from him, night after night. The league needs players like DAB and he will be a miss for sure.
