It has been stated that next year we are going to go after that elusive league title but I worry that whilst Corey is focused on GB duty that we are going to be left a little bit behind, allowing other teams to get in first and sign key players, especially the much needed Brits.
So far we have not resigned Matthew Myers, Steve Lee & Marc Levers. Whilst I am patient on the signings of the imports we absolutely need to ensure that we get great British talent into the line up. Belfast have resigned a number of their Brits and I am hearing that Dowd is close to agreeing a deal and that David Phillips is rumored to be signing for Belfast.
Ryan Finnerty is also all over the place looking at new talent to strengthen a Sheffield side.
So the question is are we going to leave it too late to get additional quality Brits into the side?
I believe that next season is going to be incredibly competitive and that to win the league will rely on having depth in the squad and that the deciding factor will be the Brits.

I think we'll be fine, it's only been a week and a bit since the playoffs I expect all of those Brits listed to re-sign, I see no trouble in getting that done.

Some people were complaining last year that we signed too many up too soon - some of the people some of the time springs to mind - plenty of time - play-offs only just gone - world champs in progress - 130+ days before next season - relax - go and watch cricket for the summer

Every year the same threads appear! It's April 17th.... Just under 5 months to go, be patient.

And the Brits that you wish the signature for are WITH COREY and the GB squad. I'm sure the players would all want a well-deserved break before thinking about next season.

We're just waiting for the bargain basement priced college hockey players that we seem to like signing. Then we'll hear Moron and Corey go on about how they are young and hungry for sucess. Never mind they won't have enough experience at winning or are proven good players. Afterall, look how good Dustin Sproat and Ian McDonald turned out to be! NOT!

I was anoptimist when i started going in 2007 but after hearing the same old bull and spin from Moran year after year about going out to win and then messing it up every year, i've had enough. Its clear Neil Black is more interested in ticket sales than going out for the league title. How come we don't sign proven AHL players season after season like Belfast? We have the money, but no, lets go for decent players that are obviously not the same calibre from their past stats/leagues and cost less. Moran goes on about Challenge Cup and Play-Off wins. Very nice Gary, but a lot of fans really want the league and they keep failing to deliver year after year!

Agree with this bit mate but would have to disagree on your previous post re Dustin Sproat; I thought he was a very decent player. Your're right with McDonald though he was gash

The pt reason we weren't in the running in my opinion this year is the mcaslan mess. If we'd left sammi in the team we'd have won those games and the consistency would have been there the whole year . Can't blame him for coming back back but bums on seats was the reason for the decision.

Your're right with McDonald though he was gash I want some star players like Tessier and Gallant were. I remember Sproat was touted as Tess's replacement, sorry but the difference in skill was obvious! Fox this season was in the same sort of role, don't know what all the fuss was about, yes, good player but nothing special. He started off well in the first few games and then just seemed to relax and become average. Can anybody honestly say they put Fox and Sproat at the same level as Tessier? Would love Joe Tallari from Phoenix a few seasons back, doubt he will be back here tho, earning big money in Italy i think.

Fox is a better all round player than Tessier for me and one of our most entertaining players from last season IMO.
Great hands, good vision, good in the circle and one of the few players to consistently finish his checks.

Look at the points he got in the few games he played when he came back. All this "we love you Sami" chanting i don't get. Average player. I think Panthers fans are too easily pleased. Perhaps this is why we don't get a real quality team every season. You can tell when Giants and Steelers go splashing the cash on top end AHL/DEL/ECHL players they intend to go out and win everything they can. I just think with Neil Black, he knows Moran is good at marketing the club and getting fans in and money comes before success.

Ryhanen got 34 points in 29 games = 1.17 points per game.

Everybody is entitled to their opinion but Tess's vision, puck handling, shot and ability on the Powerplay was brilliant. Fox seemed to lose control of the puck a lot of the time for me and his shot is nothing special.
