The dates for Nottingham Lions’ relegation playoff fixtures against local rivals Sutton Sting have been announced, with an action packed and drama filled May weekend in prospect. The Lions will be battling to retain their place in the English National League Division 1 North after finishing in 8th place, whilst the Sutton Sting, who finished as runners-up in Division 2, will be pulling out all the stops to round off their season with a promotion. Both games will take place over one weekend, in what will be the first competitive meeting between the two sides and the first Nottinghamshire senior hockey derby game for many a year. The first leg will be played at Ice Sheffield on Saturday 12th May with a 3.15pm faceoff. Ticket details for this game will be announced as soon as we have them, for those that wish to follow the Lions up the M1. The return leg is just 24 hours later on Sunday 13th May, at the National Ice Centre, in the lofty surroundings of CapitalFM Arena Rink and will faceoff at the earlier than usual time of 5pm. Ticket Prices:Adults £5.00 Children (Under 16) & OAP’s £3.00 Students (with NUS Card) £2.50 Panthers Season Ticket Holders (must show Panthers Season Ticket) £3.00 Tickets are available in advance from the Arena Box Office or via the Arena Ticket Hotline – 0843 373 3000. Last ice hockey fix for the season. Its a pity both Notts teams cannot be in Div 1 North next season.

Lets get some real support for behind the Nottingham Lions as they take on Sutton Sting in this crucial battle. A number have players are still around the various leagues who learned their skills via the Nottingham Junior system and played for the Lions. I think Lacho, Norton, Levers, Ward are virtually signed for the Panthers for the coming league campaign and all came through from the juniors in Nottingham. Should be a great weekend of play-off hockey with promotion or relegation at stake. Follow the Roar hopefully to victory!!

Is the game being played in the main rink? Considering popping down for a watch. Yes, we will be in the main arena. Nothing has been said outright, but I've been given to believe that if we get an impressive enough number in attendance next Sunday (and no - I've no idea what number that would need to be!) then there's possibly more chance of us getting some more Lions games in the main arena next season. Seeing as every time the question has been asked on here as to what would get Panthers fans to watch the Lions, the answer has been "play in the main arena"... that could be very important. So, please... come along, one and all.

When I enquired at the Box Office a few weeks ago they were only selling tickets in Block 10. I am assuming they will open up other blocks if required.

Got to agree with Spik some really good stuff on the Lions TV both new and old. Good to see and hear the players and the coaches views on games, and the pr work done in the community. Well presented and a professional job of interviewing and editing. Hope the weekend proves successful both on the ice and financially.

No chance, the Lions would have unfair home advantage. *sarcasm*

What about something I've been thinking about for YEARS: Lions v Panthers pre-season friendly.......I'd go that's for sure!!!! To support BOTH teams! And it'd put cash into the Lions & junior system if well advertised...
just a thought....
