The Devils won't know what's hit them. We're very even mate. 1 point in it in the league standing.s Shared the games 3-3 in the league and according to nhl.com preview they have it being very close. Sure you've had a week to rest up. But resting doesnt always ensure you come out the traps fast and up to tempo. I'm going for a 4-3 7 game series to Devils.

Kovalchuk's injured, Larsson's injured, Volchenkov's injured. We're a better team in the play-offs and Bryz has owned you this year.

Are yes but does this mean anything in playoff hockey, Caps going into the series with the Bruins with their third choice NM Holtby and he ends up taking them to the second round. I hope it goes to 7 but my choice would be the Devils, i also would like to see the Caps do the Rangers in 4 or 5 games In the west I would like to see Coyotes and Blues get through.

We saw them away comfortably in 2010, we'll do it this year too. I'm never confident about play-off series, but I am this one. We're quite good this year and we have the great Giroux.

The Devils won't know what's hit them. Tight first game loss to you. Blow out 3rd period gave us an nice victory in your own back yard. I thought you said this would be a blow out to you?

i thought Devils looked the more hungry of the two in the first game, and ruled the flyers last night,
this is not a straight cut series at all... flyers need to play with more grit.

When did I say that? I always expected to lose one. Utterly bemusing game by us, played like we were ill or like we didn't care! i thought Devils looked the more hungry of the two in the first game, and ruled the flyers last night, this is not a straight cut series at all... flyers need to play with more grit. We battered them in the first!

We battered them in the first! you must have seen a different game to me, i'm completely neutral in this series and i thought Devils had the better of the Flyers for most of it. they out hit, and out shot in the first, in fact the flyers looked asleep. they woke up towards the end, hence the result, but i'd hardly say battered them.

Mate. Aside from the first 15 it was all Flyers. The Devils had 9 shots after the first period or something like.
It was the polar opposite of game 2.

Late hit Leaves feet Hits head Repeat offender. Suspension? - should be. Wait a minute - it's Alexander Ovechkin. OK... that'll be no suspension, then. Thoughts?

Don't be daft, Ovi doesn't recieve any favours when it comes to suspensions. He has been suspended 3 times in the last couple of years, yes it's a questionable hit but it's the playoffs, there was no injury but if it is deemed to be bad enough he'll get suspended just like anyone else would, personally I've seen much worse than that let go in several series so far this post season.
If it wasn't Ovechkin you wouldn't even be making a fuss over it.

If it wasn't Ovechkin you wouldn't even be making a fuss over it. Well, thank-you for your attempt at mindreading and telling me what I would do in an alternate situation... you are, of course, totally wrong. Of course, being a Caps fan you don't really have a very objective viewpoint here, do you? Re other suspensions - Ovechkin has got away with stuff before on several occasions, regardless of how many times he's been suspended. And if other allegedly-worse hits have been 'let go' already... should that have any bearing on this situation? No. The only saving grace for Ovechkin here is that Girardi wasn't injured by the hit. But that's the only one. However, dont worry - your own "daft" attitude to this one is hardly the most ridiculous - the reaction of the Caps' coach is completely ludicrous:- www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=395133"Incidental contact"?? That was a clear and intentional HIT, mate! I know that with so many politicians in residence Washington is a hotspot for talking total bull, but really...

This is the Ovi suspension from a while back that cost him three games: video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?id=151827Compare that to the latest one and personally I can't see a difference. Left his feet, hit the head as a result, player was shaken up but not injured, and Ovi is a repeat offender. But then again when has consistency ever been in the NHL's vocabulary?

I dunno if Shanahan is just incompetent or what, but he's just given Rusty Klesla a game for this:
In our series with the Hawks, Roszival got hit like this:
and... no hearing.
Bouillon on Boyd Gordon:
Jumps into it, hits him in the head... nothing.
I thought Shanahan would bring some sense to the NHL disciplinary role, as a guy who'd played recently, but I can't see how players can have any idea what he is and isn't going to punish.

The Flyers are done. Fair play Devils, much better than us. Our team just don't seem to care. I can handle losing, but not like this.

Wow, I know the series has not ended yet, but i think you had a fair amount of misplaced confidence. Never count out the underdog. Jersey have been incredible this series, the forechecking is intense, the PK is near perfect, aside from tonight's SH goal, Philly have barely managed 1 shot on the PP, having numerous powerplays without a single shot. Tonight they were out about by something like 20, I'm sure close to the final buzzer the tally was 20-40 in the Devils favour. Laviolette needs to sort his team out. Simmons isn't effective, Jagr is almost irrelivent, Hartnell is just getting frustrated. I'm not saying that it's all 1 way traffic, there were some near misses this evening, but Philly seem to be imploding through their lack of discipline. This has been a good series and Jersey have come and matched the beaten the Flyers intensity. I hope they cream your lot on Tuesday (I think). Also, what's up with the schedule times. The game centre live app has the next 3 games of the series down as 5am starts (local time) but that would mean midnight face offs in the states. Are they 5pm starts, or is the whole thing screwed up?

5pm starts their time, the eastern matches are played at the earlier time and the western played later so that hockey fans across the country have the chance to see both conference games on the same day.
My Devils now have 3 chances to see out the flyers. They will have to put in some extraordinary games to beat the Devils this play off series.

To be fair to Shanahan, it's never going to be easy making judgements on this stuff (although he should have known that when he took the job!). Of the 3 examples you showed... the first one, I'm surprised it was only 1 game... thought it might go up to maybe 3 games (is the guy a repeat offender? - no idea). The second... maybe they got away with it due to 2 players coming in, confusion over who was going to hit or whatever? Sort of a borderline one, that. The third one... wasn't late, and I'm not convinced that he did 'jump up' - but definitely a hit to the head. Probably got away with it due to no injury? What about this one? www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=630857(3mins 12secs in) Late hit? - yes Leaves feet? - no Head primary point of contact? - yes (and deliberate - look at the way he drives his shoulder up) Repeat offender? - don't know (don't think so). Suspendable? (we know what Girouxsalem will say, but... )
