Being as Pelle won the big one I can't see how you "rammed" it down their throats. Imo the play offs should be rotated around the league clubs with big enough arenas including Belfast. Or they find a neutral venue. It seems totally unfair that every fan other than Panthers fans are having to fork out hundreds in travelling & hotel costs every year. By rotating it you may also get the hockey word out to the general public all around the country and not just in Nottingham. If a lot of fans from all the other clubs are now commenting that the NIC has lost it's appeal and it now feels like just another home game for the panthers then someone should sit up and take notice because they can't all be wrong! I wasn't talking about Pelle I was talking about fans but despite Pelle winning the league he still feels the need to whinge. Kinda negates your defence of him don't you think?

Shouldn't someone point out to Pelle that you need to get to the final before you can moan about the other team having home advantage.

Tbh I think it should be held at a neutral venue. The NIC don't seem to be making an effort anymore.
Saying that ... There is no other neutral venue. People say swap it Sheffield but that won't be neutral. If Sheffield won it there, would we not be in the same boat ?
As for Pelle moaning ... LOL. Giants Vs Devils was a neutral game and he still lost. So whats he moaning about ?

I find it funny all the players moaning about home ice advantage for Panthers - particularly Max Bibraer on Twitter I have to say.
Strange how he never mentioned that Cardiff had their "home ref" in their semi final victory. That to me is far, far more questionable than holding it at an arena which is obviously always going to be home to one of the teams.

Minimum expenditure on their part and maximum income. This would be the same regardless of where it was being held - Belfast, Sheffield, the O2, Mars, whatever!

Exactly the NIC is just a venue nothing more. I believe the elite league totally run the event including the paying of players, well effectively pay the players. What was cardiffs excuse against Belfast 3 years ago? What was belfasts excuse on Saturday ( they had the away room too same as home changing room) Where were the excuses when Sheffield won 2 years running Panthers have only won 3 times in 11 or 12 years of them being in the NIC huge home ice advantage, Sheffield an away team have won it more. Panthers won because they have a better team than Cardiff this year and lyle had a shocker last year.

I think I may have the answer to this. The Panthers were the better team, that's why they won. Prehaps if they had won the past several times then yes, but just because we have won it twice in a row, you start moaning like 5 year olds, grow up!

Strange thing is that it seems most fans clutttering up the internet whinging about 'home advantage' today seem to be Giants fans, whose team effectively played (and lost) their game on neutral ice and Steelers fans, whose team couldn't make it past Hull on actual, no doubt at all about it home ice, which apparently is a massive advantage. Don't let facts get in the way of a dig at the Panthers mate. Eh? In what way is my post a dig at the Panthers? You do know I'm a Panthers fan right?

Panthers won because they have a better team than Cardiff this year and lyle had a shocker last year. Agree with all of this. It's only because we've won it for the last two years people have suddenly started noticing. Panthers have in no way had an easy ride to either of those trophies, and both times have won it by sticking with it, not quitting and being the best team in the night. Honestly it's a bit disrespectful to our opponants to talk like Panthers had some kind of easy ride because it's our home ice. In 2010/11, we came from behind in every play off game and fought for every inch, and this year Braehead didn't exactly let us walk over them, and Cardiff kept the game wide open until the last eight minutes. And no disrespect to Hull, but I doubt they would have had an easier time playing Belfast or Cardiff or anyone else supposedly "neutral" at the NIC. A home advantage had nothing to do with why Belfast and Sheffield didn't win either because neither of them even played Panthers. I think there's valid issues to discuss with regards the NIC being the venue and I agree with a lot of them, but using it as an excuse sounds like sour grapes. The final could have gone either way until the last seven seconds, but someone had to win, and Panthers deserved it.

If Coventry and Sheffield had made it to the last four, along with Panthers, then it would have sold out. No question.
As for "glamming it up", is it really worth the EIHL spending money on an ice plant for a neutral venue, or fireworks, cheerleaders, flying monkeys and whatever you like, at the expense of some of the lesser funded teams in the league?

No, it isn't (IMHO, anyway). However - scrapping the England/Scotland game, driving almost all of the merchandise stalls away with increased charges (£600 for the GB stall!), providing nothing for the fans off the ice... year on year they have devalued the event as a whole. There is a whole lot of stuff that they could do that would either cost comparatively little, or could even make money... they just don't seem to want to be bothered.

Belfast are an arena team that play on a large ice pad, Cardiff are a rink team that play on a smaller ice pad so taking this subject a little further Belfast should have had the equivalent of home advantage Being an arena team in an arena, didn't do them any good did it.We won because were the best team get over it and move on.

At the end of the day, colour of shirts, which bench you sit on, where you get changed has no bearing on the result. Get on the ice and play some hockey. I Agree .. excuses are for losers
