Heerema sees the ice better than anyone, and his positioning is fantastic - that might explain the perception that he can be lazy at times. Perfect example on Tuesday night: the Clan have a 3-on-2 break, Heerema is back-checking, a stride or so behind his man but looks like he's not busting a gut. What happens? The pass comes from right to left - to Heerema's man - and lo and behold, there is Jeff's stick to break up the play. He's smart enough to understand when to go flat out and when to conserve energy. The guy had a concussion - he missed ten games. It'll take time for him to get back to full fitness. QFE

no its not time for a change at all.
heerema is one of our best players, he looks like he doesnt have to skate much but he reads the game so he is always in the right position.
kind of like xavi for barcelona.

not putting the points up? 36 points from 26 games mate. according to the panthers app that makes it 1.38 points per game. jordan fox is 1.39 points per game. so, obviously if the app has calculated that correctly, heeremas points output is not to be snuffed at. i agree he does look lazy, but like people have said, he reads the game so well

Heerema has played better in the last 2 games - maybe this is where we see the best of him.

There is nothing wrong with the way Herema is playing. He's not being asked to be a pure goal scoring for panther but offer more of an around game instead.
Saying that though I reckon he still has a gear our two to go though

What is it? Because he's had a stint in the NHL the fans expect more from him than he is, wait wasn't that the case with Cameron Mann? And look how fans loved him towards the end of that year.

If he's got another gear or two to go, why isn't he useing them, or perhaps he's just coasting. If that's the case he's short changing the paying fans. His form looks good against the poorer teams, let's see him turn it on against the top five.

Out of interest, which is the fifth top club you are talking about? Braehead? 1 goal in 1 game.
Against Sheffield he is 1+2 in 4 games (thrown out of one) Against Cardiff he is 1+3 in 4 games
He has no points against Coventry (2 games - one of which we won 10-1 and the other a 5-5 draw)
He also has no points against Giants (lost 3-2 and 2-1)
His line mates are second and third in the scoring charts, which speaks volumes. If he was not contributing, then how on earth would Fox and DAB be in that position?
Heerema creates space for the other players. Opposition players are constantly looking out for him as they know what he can do.
As ever though, our fans will always need a scapegoat and someone to moan about.

No scapegoat from me, would love to see him burn up the league. your figures bear out my post, against the top teams his figures are not that special. he seems not to have created space for his linemates against Belfast as we lost both games. I'm not knocking his undoubted talent, just feel with all you say he is below par against yhe better teams. Hope it changes.

every season there is always one this season its jeff;s turn,
did nothing wrong in the last few games especially given the fact that he had time off injury wise, he puts in a lot of the basic unglamorous stuff and players like that in any sport get short changed by the fans for some flashier player, no different here really!

Good comparison to Cameron, remembering the abuse he got is embarrassing. The start of Jeff being questioned was, if I remember rightly, when he'd just returned from a fairly lengthy spell out through injury.
Not sure why everyone expects every ex-NHL player to be a flair player hammering in goals for fun and effectively ripping apart any opposition team regardless of what line they are on, but seemingly that's what people expect.
Jeff's a quality player, and for us to lose him would be a hammer blow to our title ambitions.

Cameron Mann got abuse cos he was here for the jolly till the playoffs came around, it took almost that long for him to get into gear...
Loved him as a player but early season form was shocking hence the criticisms from fans, if he had played all season as he ended it then we might have been more competitive in the league...

Agree with most of what you write Elliot but fans expect this because generally that is what happens with our competitors...

Agree with most of what you write Elliot but fans expect this because generally that is what happens with our competitors... I know what you're saying, and I'd love us to have a Fleury on our roster but I think a grittier player like Jeff is a better fit for us right now. I cannot remember a Panthers team in the modern era more adept at grinding out results that matter. Realistically how many ex-NHL players have torn apart the league in the seemingly single handed manner that many expect? Theo? Any others? Weller nearly did enough to win Cardiff a title but he hardly tore the league apart. I'm not saying it wouldn't be nice (or fair to expect) for Panthers to have a top pedigree player who bags 3 points a game but to use that as a yardstick to judge players like Cameron and Jeff is unfair in my opinion. To be honest, criticising any player from a roster that's dropped 2 points in over 30 is probably unfair? It's a team game and the team are delivering, long may it continue.
