I dont know what all the fuss is about, as he wont be missing for as long as people have made out on here. I sincerely hope you're right... but can you actually back that up? All these claims of 'this will happen' and 'he will do that' (on other subjects as well, not just this) are all very well... but without supporting evidence, can we take them as anything but empty words?

I simply asked Danny. He told me that it was club policy to make announcements on players, but that it "won't be as long as christmas though".

Shaggy... couple of points re: And we may well be the richest club in the country (or not - who actually knows?)... but the main reason we are that, and not in the same kind of mess that Sheffield, for example, are always in - is the financial prudence of Neil Black. Who was widely loathed and criticised in the ISL days for not matching other teams' spending... but who was proven right as they crashed & burned and we didn't. The lesson of history... throwing out stupid amounts of money in this sport is A Bad Idea (TM). We are the richest club as we have some of (not all) the best sponsorship and the best (at the moment) supported team in the country therefore (and i agree pure supposition) probably the most financially lucrative,, god knows how much money the club would make if we were all dominant but hey ho no doubt the league would fold that year. NB was rightly imho for pocketing the money and not putting out a team that at times were not even competitive let alone dominant. Panthers got to watch the great escape (lets not forget we were fighting it out for the wooden spoon that year) whilst the likes of the steelers were splashing the cash and getting to watch hockey players that knew what they were doing. The only year we did splash the cash we didnt loose a game until the new year... YES we may be financially secure now but it meant the fans have seen many a year of VERY lean times re: trophies and some may even say we developed a culture of losing at the club which is only very slowly being overcome... Finally last point... throwing "STUPID" amounts of money at the club hasnt done the fans of steelers etc any harm has it, they have celebrated a stupid amount of league wins, seen a stupid amount of quality hockey players and gloated a stupid amount of times over their nearest and dearest, yes they have changed owners a stupid amount of times but as a fans what harm does that do me?...

Don't know how long they take to sort out, Beau only got his last Friday and then flew in Tuesday. Might be a nice idea for the club to mention who's arrived etc and how the training sessions are going.

All depends on your point of view... If all you are interested in is the short term, in winning silverware regardless of the consequences... if you regard everything as being OK as long as you have players on the ice... then you'll be happy. If you think a little more long-term, want to be sure that you'll have a team next season, etc etc... then maybe it's not such a good idea. Obviously some people will see things one way, and others will look at it from the other angle. The thing is... every bankrupt owner, every failed team, every phoenixed company, every cheated supplier, every neglected sponsor, every narked-off player... it all adds to the damage done to the sport as a whole. And as time goes on, as more damage is done - the worse it gets, the more chance there is that it could all come crashing down. Just because we here in Nottingham have sailed through the storms virtually unscathed doesn't mean that it will always be that way. This sport (not just our league) does little more than lurch from one crisis to another. Quite frankly, I think it's foolish to believe that just because the worst hasn't happened yet it could never happen. Well - it could. So it sort of makes sense to me not to cause even more damage just because we could (in the short term, at least) get away with it.

I agree there is a line between stability and spending which must be drawn, I am mearly surgesting it is currently in the wrong place and is more like profit building. i would like to see break even or a very small profit.
Currently I can see another season of missed oppotunities, 3rd or 4th place finish, probably win a cup and make a ton of money (which goes out of the game). Hope I'm wrong.
Sorry, as a fan of the best supported and richest club I demand the best product for my money. We should have 2 or 3 league titles at least, in the last 10 years.
Salary caps and import limits are just excuses made up by the owners.
I don't go to Tesco to buy a tin of Lidl Tomatoes.

I would say its more keepig his fitness level up than actual training. Until he is cleared for full contact training hes going to be a couple of weeks away. I would have thought he is going to miss at least the first fourtnight of the season.

It is frustrating sitting in big crowds week in week out and then finishing 3rd or 4th. I do feel happier that our roster looks more in line with the other "big spenders" for the start of this season. At the start of the previous campaign I certainly did not feel that our roster stacked up. Especially when compaired to Belfast. I reckon we could be right up there this year.

I wish we could send him to an EPL team to get him some match practise before rejoining the lineup. Couple of games there, then back for us.
On a side note, Tom Norton has come on leaps and bounds IMO. Pity we can't keep him full time!

Couple of games there, then back for us. quote] What would that achieve ? he still wouldnt risk playing any full speed hockey until he's 100% and if he is 100% get him back in the line up. He has already mention how much training and conditioning he has been doing with a rehab specialist so i would imagine that when he is deemed as ready to return he will be ready in every way.
