Ah - another HockiDrivel article where the title is somewhat misleading, and the content is chancy at best... Yet more of Saint Bob's crusade against the EIHL... (They are a bunch of chancers, no doubt... but so was and is he - why are people forgetting this?).

Far from the EIHL ending, I would sayit would at last be on the road to becoming professional. I dont know how such an amauter has been allowed to do what he has done for so long. HL

Sure others may of done a better job, but when the ISL collapsed i didnt see a rush of people trying to form a new stable league, did you?

perhaps its time to end the Elite league and come to terms with the fact that its not viable to create teams just so there is the illusion of a competetive league. Start talks with the EPL and accept that their system is more secure and stable and may be worth exploring the possibility of a EPL1 and " or north south conference system.I know the import levels would be sticky but there has to be a better way of doing things than this.

And so says the man without a club in the elite league...
If you aint got a vested interest other than the elite league folding am afraid you opinion holds very little weight..

The EPL is hardly 'secure and stable'. They have had as many problems with teams going bust/dropping down a league/etc as the EIHL have.
Much as with the EIHL, in the EPL there are perhaps only 3 or 4 'stable' teams, the rest just bounce from one crisis to another.

HL When things get founded, people often find themselves put into positions they may not be best suited for but when needs must and money is tight you do what you can with what you have. Jumping into a job when there is no others around is what alot of people do. I see this as being no different to when the Elite League was founded. Cant advertise a job if you dont know what it fully entails yourself. He did what he did with the other Elite Founders because they actually stepped up to the plate and formed a league. Sure others may of done a better job, but when the ISL collapsed i didnt see a rush of people trying to form a new stable league, did you? What happened to the "stable league"? The league has stood firm, hasnt gone anywhere and given a place for 5 established clubs to stay in relative security. The other clubs that have come and gone have been through no fault of the league, but individual clubs spending beyond their means through various circumstances.

The other clubs that have come and gone have been through no fault of the league, but individual clubs spending beyond their means through various circumstances. Whilst it's not all been the fault of the league, not by a long way - individual clubs have screwed up big-style in several cases - I think you're being a fair bit too generous... the shambolic 'management' of the league, the secrecy and apparent infighting at times... all of this and more has certainly made things worse for those clubs already in trouble due to their own failings. As for the farcical comment earlier on about the EPL being 'stable'... yeah, right. They've been losing teams steadily as well over the past few years - Invicta, Solihull, Telford (out and back again), Chelmsford & Wightlink all come to mind... they too tend to be divided into 'rich' and 'poor' teams, the former vastly outspending the latter due to no wage cap (although at least they don't even claim to have one)... etc etc. The EIHL has many, many faults... but it's far from alone in that regard.

To say i want to see the EIHL fail is not true, I would like to see the top teams competing against each other in a stable national league that is part of the sports national structure.I dont want to see what happened last year to teams like Edinburgh and Newcastle, happening again and just think the whole sport needs re-structuring. I was not trying to make it an EPL v EIHL thing as i know that there are problems in the EPL too, but when teams find that they struggle to compete there is the natural move to the ENL as an option. To sum it up i just want to see the sport run properly instead of the disjointed way things are now. Im a follower and occassional spectator of the Panthers when i can make the trip.

Im a follower and occassional spectator of the Panthers when i can make the trip. "natural move to ENL"? Try telling that to most of the fans of the teams that have been forced to do just that, and you're risking a punch in the mouth. There's nothing 'natural' about it... bigger & richer teams vastly outspending their smaller/poorer compatriots and making it impossible for them to compete... hang on, isn't that what is supposed to be the problem with the EIHL? And the ENL itself is no flower garden either... not when rules get changed, flouted or blatantly ignored... when teams re-start, re-invent themselves or want to join from outside and demand to do so in the upper division rather than start off in the ENL2 like they are supposed to (and some have already had to do). The problem is not with any one league... it's with the sport as a whole... with those who think of themselves first, last and only. Oh yeah - and with the fans whose first instinct is to start blaming someone else - club or league - and use that as a distraction from their own side's failings.

Thought-provoking my backside... it's the same old, same old. The EIHL allegedly is and was doing everything wrong (funny how BP doesn't see himself as being part of the problem when he was an owner) and his latest solution? Lower import levels! So - like all the other import-level-obsessed types, he's completely missing the reality... messing about with the import levels is NOT the answer! Investing in British player development, so that Brit numbers go up, Brit costs come down and THEN we can afford to have fewer but better imports... that's the solution. Piddling about with the import levels hasn't been the answer so far, has it? It's helped to a limited extent, true... but you can only take that so far. More bull from BP... the only thing he's provokng is a bowel movement, not thought...
