Can't blame him for taking a better job back home. Lets home he makes the most of it.

Good for him if he's got a better offer, just hope Braehead can get a decent replacement, it'll be a shame for them if they're not challenging for a play off place again this season.

Shame for the Clan, good for Bruce though. Good luck to him.

Would be great if Danny Stewart got the job. After the amazing job he did with us last year, he deserves a shot in the EIHL.

If you sign a contract then you should look to see it out.
When Panthers have had players who have reneged on contracts, I havent seen anyone on here wishing them well.

I think the difference is Bruce made it clear to all parties involved what his plans were if something like that came up. there may have even been a clause in his contract, who knows! Either way, he's gone best of luck to him and it's a shame we'll probably never see him in UK hockey again because he was one of the few 100% players for every shift of every game to have graced this league.

After the amazing job he did with us last year i must have missed that? Coach of the year, wins on a shoestring against panthers, belfast, blaze, Clan, Dundee, Edinburgh... Qualified for the cup semi final....other remarkably close results... With a team that should have been thumped week in, week out, took the playoff qualification campaign to the last weekend...Not sure how you missed all that. Danny Stewart was a big part in what is my favourite season ever - even more so than winnnig the playoffs. I think he did an incredible job, and would be a great fit at the Clan.

Rangers - Stewart got Coach of the Year as a consolation prize as something to make him (and Vipers fans) feel better when the prospect of their team folding became certain. Only a completely blinkered fan boy would think otherwise.

Not sure many others in the EIHL could have done a better job with the tiny squad we had at the end. You are entitled to your opinion obviously. I just strongly think it's one of the stupidist I ever seen. Each to their own though.

I think both of you have your points. Would be very interesting to see Stewart coaching a half decent team. He is a scrappy character as far as I'm aware, perhaps this helped him in the situation Newcastle were in, to fight likes wounded animal, so to speak. I have my doubts he'd get on as well as other at clubs like Nottingham Belfast etc.

Had a rink where his team could of and should of been extremely hard to beat on home ice to even a extremely modest budget, they would of got beat heavily away from home with a team built purely for whitley bay, but in the end he put together a team that wasn't really built with anything in mind and he got beat heavily no mater where his team was playing

On paper the team he signed was a great mix. JR, Toms, Kyle, a couple of other guys supplying the flair, with Forsbakka, danny and Schwarz and a couple of others with the grit. For what ever some left, some didnt hit the heights they were expected, some got injured. Simon may have won the league and #sexyneilsonhockey may have won two pots, but I still (honest, maybe a little bias, but it is something i genuinely believe) Danny did the best job. We should have ended like the caps, but The Dozen put up a fight. And that was Danny's doing

You could be right Rangers. To me though, it's obvious that the owners in Braehead are the same that we have down here, they seem to play a Team Hollywood style, like us. I'm not sure I can see him fitting in to that. Could be 100% wrong.

Bad news for the Clan... but I can fully understand Bruce's decision... and to be fair to the guy, if he was up-front with them to start with (as the PR says) about moving back to NA for the right offer, then that's fair enough. Credit to Braehead and Neil Black for being gracious in losing him. As for a replacement? Somehow I think Braehead might have a better chance than some clubs of getting a good one (how about Ben Simon, eh? ). Danny Stewart?... think they could do better. Not a bad coach, but wasn't 'Coach Of The Year' material IMHO (I'd have given that to Gerad Adams).

I just strongly think it's one of the stupidist I ever seen. Each to their own though. Try taking your "wah, wah, big, bad arena teams" blinkers off occasionally and take a look at some of the tripe you post if you want 'stupidist'. Danny Stewart had a home venue that should have been a fortress but just seemed to fall into the same "woe is us" rut as the few fans who bothered going to 'The Bay' were experts at and instead strung together an inconsistent season. Best Coach? You'll be telling me Mustukovs was actually the best netminder rather than the best defended next.

He did a good job at Newcastle, he's got alot of EIHL experience and Braehead isn't likely to fold. Win-Win situation IMO

Always tried to be constructive in my opinions (although I'm sure you're not the only one who thinks that's wrong too). Haven't even mentioned arena teams in this post. Thommo mentioned on twitter that he hopes Danny gets a look at the job (which is what prompted my post)- are you suggesting he's wrong too? I'd trust his judgement if I were looking for a coach for a hockey team. I'd rather Bruce kept the job to carry on building the squad, as he was doing a pretty good job, but it would be great to see Danny still in the league, and given a budget to see what he can do.
