Tweet today from Hicks @mikehicks27 Mike Hicks “@drosennhl: I am told there will be no official announcement on the salary cap for the 2011-12 season until next week.”
This could be interesting .... if it happens !

Would be kind of odd announcing a salary cap for the EIHL when teams have recruited most (if not all) their main players. But then, this is the EIHL...

On this subject, do you think teams would be interested in having a varying cap according to your income? Personally I think Sheffield will want a flat cap...

I suppose we'll find out the size of the cap before the official announcement thanks to a leek in Cardiff?

I'm sure whatever salary cap is agreed upon it will be lower than what the usual suspects will accuse the Panthers of having spent.

If there is an announcement now it will be the biggest joke yet from this league. Our squad is all signed but 1.
They should be announcing things for the 2012 - 2013 now, IMO it's too late for next season.
I would also be intrested as to how they'll enforce a cap.

I would also be intrested as to how they'll enforce a cap. Well apparently they'll be forming an independant board to oversee the wage cap. Board members are, Mr David Simms Mr Paul Ragan Mr Paul Thompson In addition there will be a rotating 4th board member chosen from the users of 'Fire and Ice', 'The Inferno', 'Kingdom of the Giants' and 'Steeltalk' forums. Panthers have already been docked 30 points for the 2012-2013 season and a review in under way as to the 2011-2012 season.

Never any point docking us points because we wouldn't win the league anyway. ;D

Here it is: Love it!!! What an absolute joke, there should of been an announcement at the end of last season not next week! How can they possibly bring in a wage cap at this stage when teams have been recruiting for months. Unless the officials state that there wont be a wage cap for the 2011/12 season, they will end up looking like circus performers

I agree that there should be an anouncement about the EIHL wage cap if there is one but I doubt that they will announce anything this year regarding it. The tweet by mike hicks is about te NHL salary cap.

Things can exist without us lot knowing about it (goes for the rulebook too).

I'm told that the salary cap has been scrapped this year. Well, seeing as only one person in any kind of position of power within the EIHL - namely one Paul Ragan Esq. - actually started off and ran with the subject of a salary cap, that doesn't surprise me in the slightest. It looks like he only brought it up to try to gain some political leverage (and to distract his clubs' fans from his self-imposed alleged cuts in wage bills), several of the other owners don't want one because it would tie their hands, and the league itself know that they wouldn't be able to enforce one anyway. In other words... SSDD.
