'Meanwhile, Thompson has confirmed he has not offered contracts to Brian Lee, Brad Zanon, Sean Selmser, Greg Chambers, Brad Cruikshank and Jeff Smith while Jason Robinson has retired.'
any of these do for us ? thought not. Can't see them missing any of those, good to see Thommo wanting to make a fresh start, hopefully they get some decent players.

Welcome to yesterday and why would you hope that Coventry get some decent players?

Well that was successful recruiting by *cough* the best coach in the league HL

Fair enough. I would rather we won the league.
Each to their own...

No thanks, Chubs has signed in the EPL and Cruikshank has reportedly taken a job outside of Hockey. Selmser is past his best and other d-men didn't overly impress. Wouldn't take Lee, Zanon or Smith over any of the d-men we finished with last season.
After the year they had, there is no surprise there is going to be a clear out, the only import they might have wanted back that they haven't would have been Dan Carlson. Owen Fussey (pre injury) and Luke Fulghum were the only imports I would have brought back from their team.

KFC in Nottingham would not have been able to cope with Smith.

None of them were good enough at coventry so why would we want them here?

Coventry related.
Just notice they have signed a very inexperienced back up.
Thompson will have to have a word with Hirsh and tell him not to spit his dummy so often and so early this season.

What happened to coventry last year is the very thin line between success and failure, it could be argued they had one of the best brit packs around a solid netminder and a pretty good clutch of imports but won nowt...
I know how they feel panthers have been there many times, but is a complete clearout the best method for moving on?..

Finishing 6th with no trophies wouldn't have helped, so I would imagine a shake up was needed, i'm suprised about one or two not being re-signed, but can understand why the others haven't been re-signed, on top of that you also have three retired so that hasn't helped either.

There was alot of dead wood in that Coventry dressing room last season and I think it's about time to start afresh. Blaze have always had a core of players that their success has been built around (Carlson, Calder, Stewart, Soderstrom for example) but they have all come to the end of the road now and I think Blaze need some fresh blood and a new core of players to build around so I for one am happy that Thommo has cleared the decks. The only surprise is Lee not being offered a contract but he never lived up to his own high standards last season and I think Thommo would now consider him a #3 D-man at best where as Lee probably wants the wage of a #1 or #2.

Considering he has a stake in Blaze I'd imagine it's unlikely.
