URGENT !
Just to let people know of a scam that is going around.
A guy calls you with an Asian accent and tells you his very British name Mark Benson. He states that your computer is at risk from cyber hackers and he will run a scan on your computer.
He will ask you to go to Windows start and type logmein123.com. Do not do this, it will give him access to control your computer. He will download an icon (AWC) on your desktop and then run the scan, he will let you see a screen that says you have the highest amount of errors he has ever seen on a computer. He will then tell that an engineer (with another British name ) will perform other tests. When the scan is finished he will tell you that the license for your computer has expired and you need to renew it and this will cover you for any new computer that you buy in the future.
He will then tell you that if you do not renew the license you will get a black screen and your computer will be locked in a couple of days by the IRC? as they do not want the problem with your PC to affect the whole of the web. This is when he talks fast and tells you the price to get your computer virus free, £159 or £99 if you are an OAP. This is a scare tactic, if you let him control your PC, he will try to stop you from closing down things he has opened. He says he will give you a 48 hour trial and call back to see how you want to pay him. He becomes insistent if you stall or try to get control of your PC back. He will move the mouse pointer to prevent you from closing down the things he wants to do.
If he does get into your PC, unplug your modem straight away and leave it for 30 minutes for your modem to reboot and this will prevent him from gaining access from you old modem ISP code. The black screen that he will leave you with can be changed back using the displays on your PC. Delete any icon that he may put on you PC and empty you recycle bin.
Pass this on it is not a wind up. Type logmein123.com into Google and it will tell you that it is a scam to get money from you.
