after two years of the same speel, it's time for you to go, you talk the talk but, cant walk the walk. Try and sign Munn, best player on the ice by a country mile, oh he's no good, a rock solid no nonsense defender.

We had nights like this under Adey, MWB and Ellis. It's nothing new.

we were bullied tonight, from start to finish, why play Penner and not let him do what he's good at, one person tells players what to do. Those you mentioned are not here now Neilson is and besides they got sacked for a lot less thats going on now. Look at now, not what others have done.

I can forgive CC game losses to an extent. Were second in the league and that's a good place to be right now. I said at the start of the season, he needs to do something big this year but gassing him in October won't help us.
As BA said, it's the Panthers way. Getting rid of Neilson will mean we get another coach who does the exact same thing.

No disrespect but who would we bring in? Or more likely the question should be which ex player would we bring in? Experienced coaches are unlikely to come to this league and were even more unlikely to pay one to do so.
Neilson may not have brought us a league championship yet but he has brought Neil Black record crowds and I know which one the man at the top will hold as his number one priority.

Sack him as soon as our season is over, then advertise the job in North America, see who applies. The fact that we always hire from within says more about Moran and Black taking the path of least resistance rather than the attractiveness of the job.
I tend to agree though, crowds are up and he says the right things, can't see them getting rid.

His style of play attracts more and more fans each season, they will save money on the fact he's a player coach and on top of that he will be reasonably cheap because he's only won one trophy in two seasons so far. I personally would like to see us stick with him for a couple of seasons yet. We haven't won the league by getting a new coach every couple of seasons in the past so we may aswell try a new approach.

The answer is in our own hands.
Whilst ever we keep paying to watch and believing the hype and poo poo, we will keep being let down like tonight again and again and again.
Until the day crowds drop nothing will ever change, because making money is all our management care about. I am convinced they would be far happier for us to get beaten 0-5 in front of a 5000 crowd than win 5-0 in front of a 4000 crowd.
That attitude stinks !

I think tonight is the first time that I have put the blame of a defeat totally on his doorstep.
We have no idea. The powerplays were hopeless, the transitional play (we have arguably the best offensive d-men in the league) didnt work, lots of blind passes being picked off, I dont think he knows what to do with an enforcer, no passion, no clue.
He has played plenty of times against Sheffield, so know how they play (despite changes in management etc) yet we still get caught out the same way.
I have no idea who I would want coaching us (that we could realistically get) but he needs to have a long hard look at what he is doing.
I wasnt going on Friday, irrespective of the score, and Sundays game can now be touched in to boot as well. I hate Sunday face offs at 4.00, and if the players cannot be arsed, neither can I.

Why does this always crop up when we lose, seriously?
What do fans expect us to do.. go through the season unbeaten playing the perfect game. Well I'm sorry guys but when will you wake up and realise that changing things won't work.

I presume for JV this is just the straw that broke the camel's back.
For me that particular camel's been hobbling on like Bert Trautmann for a while now but there you go.

Is it really the style of play that is attracting more fans? Maybe in some part but I think that simplifies it a bit too much. The location of the arena, simple inertia and the inherent 'trendiness' of following the team and tradition play a very strong part.
Moran and Black wont go looking in NA, they don't have the contacts to do that, look at our track record, in fact look at their track record, Black didn't go looking anywhere but the UK for his new venture, first a Blaze player then one of our own Panthers. Nothing is going to change the fact that last night was, in the eyes of the Panthers org, nothing but a success. 5100 through the door, all paying customers, and a healthy profit on the night. Don't get me wrong, I know that Gary will be seething after that result and performance, whatever criticisms you levy at him he bleeds black and gold, but he has a job to do and his focus is not winning hockey matches it's generating profit.

The next coach is right under your nose, 'running' the bench, brought in by his mate GM and waiting in the wings. Funny you should say that - I made a point of watching our bench coach during the third period albeit from a distance in Block 10 I would say he was completely motionless and silent 95% of the time - looked like he was just observing I was going to ask what is he supposed to be doing ? (As opposed to a guy smartly dressed on their bench who never stopped movingand talking between the Steelers players)

Style of play is not attracting me - I would be much happier WINNING against the best teams and WINNING agaisnt the lesser teams by a few goals less as long as there is plenty of aggression and the odd fight thrown in
What style of play did Belfast use last year - I have no idea but I thought they were very impressive at the NIC - totally outclassed us in the playoffs
What style of play did Sheffield use agaisnt us last night and a couple of weeks ago - again I have no idea but they have looked far the better team bot times and impressed me mightily - plenty of skill in there as well - No 75 last night was quality
I also go for the music and the family atmosphere - style of play I honestly have no idea about

Way too many assumptions there with no hard facts to back them up. I wouldn't go around claiming things without knowing it to be a hard truth. Neil Black on multiple occasions has fired coaches at Panthers for not getting him the League title he craves. To me this does not scream of large crowds before winning. Obviously we have GM the GM who is there to get the crowds in and keep them in, but thats the same for all teams, they all want crowds to be as high as possible to get a return. That does not at all state that the club puts this over winning the league. Like has been said before we cannot win every game. If this was a loss to Coventry or Belfast there wouldnt be all this stigma and crying over the loss. This has purely come out of frustration for a loss to our "Biggest" rivals. Perhaps some of you should stand back from the pc, engage thinking and then respond without accusations of this and that after a cup loss. End of the day you guys are after the League, so going out of the cup surely means we could concentrate on that? And really who would we get as coach? i mean we could use our Bench Coach and have him step up to full head coach, but other than him, an ex player again? Bring in an ex NHL'er? We couldn't afford the top coaches, we'll always get rookies or up and coming ones.

Additionally i'd say you show considerably more interest in the 'style of play' than many who attend so you admitting you 'haven't got a clue' (which i'm not sure is really the case as you make enough comments on here to suggest you do have a clue) probably indicates that there are many more fans who don't have the level of interest to debate Panthers on here or take an interest in the 'style of play' at all. I know I will get criticised for moaning about the way the club is structured, amongst other things, when we sit second in the league and are the only club in this country, by some distance, to make a profit from a hockey business. That, however, is the way I see things. Just saying 'ah well, things are ok compared to everyone else, lets carry on regardless' is myopic and missing the opportunity that is in front of us. The club (and indeed the business) are, in my opinion, some way short of their optimum profit level and are certainly a long long way short of the sort of on ice prowess their resources should yield. I'll give you a real example of where they miss a trick. I was in the shop on Saturday as my Fiancee wants a Panthers hoodie. We are 2 months into the season and the rack of hoodies consisted of a toddlers size grey hoody, a few manky looking XL black ones and 2 XXLs. That's all, and i'm pretty sure they are left over from last season. I myself could do with some new polo shirts but again all they have is leftovers from last season. I could do with a couple of nice white tees for my upcoming holiday, just simple white crew tees with the logo on the front (similar to the NHL ones that all teams have). Dirt cheap to print, even on decent quality tees. Christmas is coming. Will they tap into that market or will we just get some overpriced baubles again? Where are the dressing gowns, alarm clocks, slippers, casual wear? They are missing a trick big time. I guess it doesn't matter though because things are ticking over. Well no, it does matter, because when the sun shines you should make hay. That's just one example. I could add more about the unprofessional manner in which media outlets are utilised, the god awful website, the corny use of the same old tag lines (man with a plan, fabulous NIC, biggest rivalry in Europe, unfinished business, let them hate blah blah blah).

Neil Black on multiple occasions has fired coaches at Panthers for not getting him the League title he craves.. Name the coaches who were fired for that reason. I doubt there are any who were fired for just that reason. Ellis certainly wasn't. Adey wasn't. Blaisdell wasn't. So who was? And if he fires coaches for not bringing him the title what is Corey still doing here? We are no closer to it now than when Ellis was here. One thing is different though, we're saving a years wages because we get a 2-4-1 import and coach. Neil runs Panthers purely as a business. If we had a really bad season (i.e. finished 5th or below) he'd make changes but unless someone falls out with the club, demands more than he's willing to pay or gets a better offer elsewhere that wont happen while things carry on as they are. Winning the league means a million times more to our GM than it does to our owner. Really? 1/4 million profit last year and we can't afford a decent out and out bench coach? Jesus, they must be very expensive then!

Cory Neilson is in his fourth season and there seems to be little difference in tactics, team make up or direction.
I get an uneasy feeling that his position is safe because he acquiesces to management dictats while Davey Graham seems less a bench coach than a static spectator. Perhaps his real job is reporting back to his big pal Moran?

He must go.
I could excuse the fact that he is still relatively inexperienced IF he showed any interest in actually learning the trade as he goes along. But there is no evidence of this at all - the style of play remains exactly the same, he shows no willingness or ability to adapt to situations during a game (or even to adapt to different opponents), yet even when this is so blatantly obvious, we hear the same lame excuses and, at all times, he comes across as extremely arrogant, as though he were Scotty Bowman and how dare anyone question his knowledge and understanding of the game.
The other problem is, he comes across completely as a yes man. The club offered him his only chance of getting a head coach position for a professional organisation as a rookie and he grabbed it with both hands, thank you very much. He knows which side his bread is buttered and toes the party line at all times, in fact his interviews are more like marketing bumpf than a true coach's view of the team and matches. Trouble is, it seems to me that is exactly what the club wants. Adey was gone as soon as possible after he had a difference of opinion with the management team, Ellis was always going to hit problems as he was not an inside promotion and had his own views, essentially he was a dead man walking as soon as he cut Paul Moran from the squad (although his playoff win bought him another season).
We need not only a change of coach, but a change of emphasis. Let the marketing men do their job (which, I have to say, they are pretty good at, as rising crowds and profitability indicate) and let the coach deal with the on-ice matters without interference. Would that really be too much to ask?
