Cant blame Carson for our poor PP. We had enough chances to score and didnt. He got the Lepine call wrong. Our players should be smart enough to keep their mouths quiet when he's reffing. He wants an excuse to kick them out and he had plenty tonight.
Kowalski looked like the netminder we signed tonight. Shame his team mates didnt keep up their end.

Carson was terrible but to blame tonight on him would be just deluding ourselves. We were dire and apart from one goal never looked a threat. The richest team in the league against a team that struggling to pay the bills?
Ben Simon 4 – Corey Neilson 1.

Just to add… K-wal was outstanding tonight with very little support.

it has to be the most inept display from ice hockey officials i have ever seen. admitted it wasn't helped by a couple of our players having massive strops, but these wouldn't have happened but for the incompetence of the referee and his linesmen. of course some calls were justified but many were not, not least lepine being thrown out for checking to the head. if his head had been up it would have been shoulder to shoulder.
We really need some fresh blood referees and linesmen to come through so the older, dare i say worse/bias referees can be put out to grass somewhere near Rotherham......

I very rarely comment on a game as i am not fully conversant with all the technical points of the game, but I feel tonight I must. I was really looking forward to what could have been the best game in the last five years between us and them up the road. This was because I had heard that the steelers were playing decent hockey again that was quite exciting and no where near as boring as it has been for the last few seasons. What a disappointment. The reffing was the worst I have ever witnessed in any game of hockey here or abroad. I personally am writing to the Elite League to request that Carson should NEVER be allowed to ref a game between Panthers & Steelers ever again. One voice is not enough though I urge ALL of you to do the same. It wouldn't surprise me if he didn't need an armed guard to get him out of the building tonight.

To be fair pal, you can have all the money in the world, if you don't get that puck in the back of the net, it all means nothing.

Apart from a few dodgy calls, Mr Carson called the game right IMO. I thought at the time Lepine's hit was questionable. Although AC did not call it, after advice from the linos Lepine was thrown out. Jade gets a 10 min penalty abuse of official after a disputed decision. He is not going to change his decision, you get on with it. Penner gets a 2 minute minor and gets thrown out for abuse of official, he may get punished for throwing his stick at the Sheffield bench. If he had been thrown out for going around the ice hitting every Sheffield player, no problem but to get ejected for throwing your dolly out of the pram, stupid.
Why after any defeat do we always blame the referee, instead of accepting we were second best. Credit to Sheffield, they had a game plan and stuck to it and got the points.

the worst part of tonight is this game leaves us 2 import D men down for the next game, zion injured and leppine faces at least a 1 game ban... Not good at all. That's what's. Annoyed me most about Carsons reffing tonight, the game penalties were a lack of discipline on our players parts

Ben Simon 4 – Corey Neilson 1. before the game everyone was saying we had to go at them - we did and met Carson penalising us for everything - yes we should realise that he is biased and will do everything to help HIS team - but you should not have to play that way - it is fine for the oponents to disrupt your gameplay in fact that is part of the game - but when the ref deliberately does it then that cannot be acceptable -

I have just witnessed the worst display of "refereeing" that I have ever seen, yeah, we didn't play that well besides a few players, but the scoreline doesn't reflect the game. It would've been much tighter had Carson not had a pretty obvious bias, and we hadn't lost our heads and gone down to 11 skaters.

I think I too will have to express my views to the league. You can't expand a league and gain a bigger following for a sport which contains so much controversy from the officials. They should be the most professional people on the ice, and tonight Carson raised some serious issues. I'm not blaming Carson for us losing. Sheffield are a good team and it could have gone either way tonight. But with such poor decision making having such an impact on the game, it raises questions about the future of the sport. I took two people to the game tonight who have never seen ice hockey. And I apologised for the officials being so poor.

Regardless of how Carson called it, we were awful. Simple. We had a 4 minute powerplay and did nothing with it - we wont beat the top 4 teams by wasting these chances. Our netminder stood up to be counted tonight and was the only one IMO.

Not sure what was worse, Carson's disgraceful reffing or our sheer ineptness.
Myers, Sproat, Ryan & Lepine excepted.
Carson should spend less time on Steelbleat explaining the rules to inbreds and more time reading the rules himself. Lepine put in a perfectly good check, Globke had his head down. He penalised the outome, not the hit itself.
The Moose looks very good and they gave us a lesson in how to defend and make the most of the opportunities that came their way.
Good teams don't lose 3 in a row. We are not a good team.

Fortunately, I don't have to watch dire officiating for much longer. I'm off to Courchevel in France where the standard of the very minor league refs is suprisingly good.

I did warn people about the referees ruining the season when everyone was going on about how they were looking forward to this year.
Nothing in this league will change while we have the referees we do.

Forget training up young hockey players, lets train up some young officials, more chance of winning the league having a ref from Nottingham doing every game.
Can't blame the players for fuming when I was fuming in the stands. You can take 1 or 2 bad calls, but that was an abomination tonight, tbh i wanted to leave in disgust. I'm sure our guy's felt the same.

I don't think any team would have won tonight in our position. Nielson must have played 50 minutes because he was our only import D for the majority of the game.
By the end of the game we had - what - 6 or 7 players out? No wonder we couldn't make use of a 4 minute PP. The players were knackered.
Despite what everyone else says though, I though Sproat was rubbish tonight - he seems to be losing interest week on week.
