I will wait until people who were at the game post their views first, rather than a kneejerk reaction from following the game on TCW (although thanks to Jono for this service).

A couple more early goals against K-Wall. Seems thats his achilles heel. Once he is in the game he is sound, but we conceed too early at the start of periods.

It sounds rather Gary Moran-esque. All the players have been using it in interviews over the past week. It's also known as setting yourself up for a ...

If you're going to get turned over at home by the likes of Braehead the very next thing you need to do is go and win away against a team like Belfast.

People will come on here slating the performance that weren't at the game and didn't watch the webcast. Did we play poor and deserved to lose, were we outplayed, was it an unlucky loss. What?

Even I am surprised a few games in that fans think we are not good enough.At least I said it half way through the season...

We deserved at least a point out of the game IMO. We were all over them for periods - Zion didnt ice for 40 odd mins and we missed him alot. Murphy was his usual in form self - the commentators mentioned that this would be his 6 MOTM preformance in a row which says the form he is in. K-wall let one soft one in but our powerplay looked even worse without Zion. We had Stevie Lee on it from what I could see and he's not a PP guy - that is by no means a criticism because, by the looks of it, none of our forwards are either. We need to do something new on the PP - so predictable.

Robbie
I think what irks me is five things:
a) All the pre-game sound bites about us being a great team and being too good to lose two on the bounce. Well, that was wrong wasn't it?
b) The fact we had a 3-2 lead and then conceded three goals in the space of 10 minutes;
c) The fact that we concede too easily and can't keep the GA below 3 (bearing in mind that Musto-whatsit up the road already has four or five shut-outs so far);
d) The fact that, every season, we make a terrific start and then around October time start losing games that will, ultimately, cost us dear come March;
e) The fact that our PP is poor, even though we have the most attacking side in the league.
Hope that helps.

What a game that was, a great start after 14 seconds only to concede a scrappy equaliser of a brillant save from Murphy.
Where the Giants D went for the next 10 minutes i dont know, a player left all alone at the back post makes it 2 before Shields fired a shot through Kowalski and it trickled over the line despite the efforts of a sliding d-man and Meyers was able to skate straight through the middle and finish it well for the 3rd.
Thankfully Doug said something in the break as they defended better as a unit and Murphy made some huge stops, the 2nd period felt like watching paint dry both teams seemed scard to make a mistake and played cautious hockey.
The 3rd was a different story as the Giants seemed to find another gear and the back of the net, Kowalski i believe is your weak link he seems to flaff about in the crease and seems reluctant to catch with his glove or to freeze the puck insteding using his stick to send out wide or behind the net keeping the play active. Is this a tactic of Neilson as he wants to attack or should Kowalksi just smother the puck and let the team regroup?
Happy with the result if not the performance C Hemingway has dissapointed so far but on the other hand we were 2 imports down in Benedict and Mason so 2 points is a great achievement.

Always a tough call belfast and panthers havent had alot o success there at the best of times but given that its the giants who most likely will win the the league and as we were leading with 10 mins to go what is it with the panthers that they cant hang on to a lead when it matters.... EVER... (or at least thats how it feels, at this rate i suspect this game will be a reflection on the season as a whole... oh so close but no cigar)..
Hope i am wrong but i guess next weekend will give us an idea if we come second or third!!.

+3 I think people's reactions aren't based on this season's games alone which would be a little churlish but rather the season's past and the similar pattern emerging again. So close and yet so far would be the Panthers epiteph.

To be honest ...this was the first game of the panthers that ive seen this season....and this is my verdict:
1. K-"wall" if your playing butterfly ...make sure you cover up your 5-hole, he gave up 3 easy goals!! Not good enough sorry (apart from the 2nd period where he was alright)
2. Where people say you need a good nettie to give your D confidence, same applies for your D to give your nettie confidence, something he doesnt seem to have.
3. Penner was alright, apparently had problems with his hand so couldnt really fight (or cause havoc which might have led to a fight) but apart from that was OK, did get some good ice time for an enforcer
4. REALLY don see the point of Liscak (#21)
5. Most of the time they try to do the simple things to pretty.
6. Power play (need i say more....its just that sh!t!!!!!!!!)
&. We need a change Jay a back, a different nettie + a change of heart from Corey (one wont go without the other) and for next year (im sorry to say) a new coach who understands how to win championships!!
Apart from that it was an enjoyable game .....as long as you ignored the SHEER STUPIDITY (which is an understatement) of Mike (D)Hicks!!!!!!!!!!! he was outrageously BAD

TBH it was a pretty dire game no D from either team in the first, snore fest in the 2nd, the Giants woke up in the third, and despite being two offensive players down pulled out the win. Good teams win ugly ;D

I attended the game last night, and Im not sure if my feelings should be dissapointment or frustration.
At the end of the 2nd we looked comfortable, and frankly if Giants were still playing now they wouldnt have scored again.
But at the beginning of the third we decided that entertainment was more important than points and gave the Giants 2 soft goals.
Why cant we just kill a game on the road. For sure I want to be entertained at the NIC, but on the road, lets kill the games as to pick up points.
I dont subscribe to the 'Lets blane the NM' posts. To me he was let down badly, and frankly with the exception of Lepine (who is the only one who seems to understand his defensive obligations), the rest of the D (icluding Steve Lee) really need to get a grip.
Not sure why Meyers got MOM for us, for me only Sproat, Lepine, and Galbraith bothered to turn up tonight.

Got what we deserved, luckily Belfast were just as sloppy through 2 but then when they tightened up in the 3rd we didndt.
A decent game to watch, but our positional discipline and lack of rugged defensive effort was symoblic of a team who dont want to end their 1956 hoodoo.
Iv waited a few weeks from when it was first mentioned, but Kowalski's 5 hole is getting beyond a joke now! I honestly expected him to be a big upgrade on St.Pierre but hes certainly not pulling up trees yet.
