It was good to see Lepine have a fight and watching penner chase Smith round the ice was fun - think Lepine has been itching to get involved in the fighting TBH
No idea whether the other Panther who seemed to block Smiths path as Penner pushed him into the dugout had planned to do that ?
Very funny though
It was nice to see the first two periods of the match with so few Panthers penalties
Felt sorry for their netminder early on

I am sure there will be a few moans about Penner tonight - but IMHO he is what panthers have been missing for a few seasons - like the new guy - have to say that that was the worst Blaze team I have seen for years - we hid not play at our best but they were dire

I hope there isnt moans about Penner, Smith was digging at smaller players all night and avoided Penner at all costs, think Penner forced his way onto the ice when Smith was iced, was funny to watch though and Attempted Spearing? did i miss something? Penner pushed him into the bench

We won that game in the first period then took out foot off the gas slightly in the 2nd and 1st...Blaze also started to wake up a bit at 6-1 down and were pretty decent in the 3rd. 1st period Blaze were shocking....they seemed as nervous as Murdy did in goal!
Macdonalds hat trick goal was a beauty his speed away from the last man was scary and his finish wasnt bad either! Im sure his first goal was already in but he put in the rebound but hey ho.
K-Walls save with the puck looping over his head was fantastic i really thought it would sneak over the line but no he kept it out!
Final thing...i dont think i've ever seen so few Coventry fans at the NIC before!

3 soft goals for the Blaze IMO. We should never have left ourselves in a situation like we did at the end.
But a win is a win - 5 outta 5 is what I wanted. I have to agree this Blaze side is poor. They are seriously missing Calder and Stewart IMO. Fulghum, Fussey, Chambers, Owen and Cruickshank were annoymnus.
in all honesty I don't think we ever got out of scond gear tonight and that isn't a criticism. We were great in parts.

I hope there isnt moans about Penner, Smith was digging at smaller players all night and Spot on - he deserved what he got Yes forgot to mention that Kowalski save - probably the best I have seen from any panthers netminder since i started watching them

How slow is Chambers by the way ?
Clarke must have given him 10 yards start in that first period and still got ahead of him

Anybody know why Jaeger wasnt playing and why Blaze didnt have a backup goalie? acording to a friend of mine he has a groin strain - and it looks like they wernt able to get a back up registered and to the game in time I heard Jaeger got injured during warm up which is why their back up played so obviously they wouldn't have another back up with them. If he had an injury before the game, I think he would have been risked tonight and left out tomorrow night. I tbh thought the game was dull after the first period - maybe because the goals weren't flowing as much. Coventry don't look anything special at all this year and in my opinion, they already have a mountain to climb. I know it's too early to rule anyone out, but Coventry are already 10 points behind us, and that can only benefit us. The kowalski save that he made was pure class. Has to be early contender for save of the season, and as there was no break in play for a long time after that, I don't think he received the appreciation that he deserved, so well done him. McDonald finally looked settled and took his goals well. Loved Lepine's fight and finally glad we've seen him fight. I feel that we've seen some of the hype our Penner and how he gets the crowd going but attempted spear, really? All I saw was a push.

having seen three different refs so far I thought Hicks was doing well untill the Penner penalties - suppose it stopped Penner getting a bigger penalty for fighting in the last five minutes - but why wasn't Smith penalised for impersonating a chicken

Hope someone got footage of Penner putting Smith into the dugout Hope somebody has footage of Smith on the ice while Penner served his 2+2+2+10. He offered Smith out, he declined but still went after him. There was only going to be one outcome, Panthers on the PK. Not just for 2 minutes but for 6 mins. AP needs to calm down a little or he will become a liability.

Well done panthers - good win.
I actually thought their back up NM had a decent game, their defence was to blame for at least 4 of their goals - you cant leave the NM exposed like that.
They should keep him between the pipes at least he only conceeded 6, not 7 like the 'first choice' NM ;D

Thought Penner did exactly what he should tonight. Smith was getting more and more dirty but refusing to drop them - it could easily have ended with a serious injury to one of our players.
And to me it looked like Smith speared DAB....

It's obvious you're going to get a penalty for doing that. Edit: Having just watched the video, intentionally pushing the guy into the bench through the door is incredibly stupid. We all know what the refs are like in this league. It's always going to be a penalty.

HD video of the Lepine fight and of the Penner Smith incident (HD) Select 720p on the youtube page for High Def Only looks like one person spearing in that video, and that's the chicken! Hope Penner rearranges his face in front of the Skydome faithful tomorrow!
