Let's hope the Devils continue their bad run of results at the NIC. Can't wait for the this weekend so thought I would get a thread started.
I do hope Penner keeps Voth quiet, however, I am already finding the advertising of Penner quite tiresome. Why is it on the site that Penner will be there, and so will Voth? We all already know this.... They have not listed any other players who will be there?
I think they should leave the Penner hype alone, and let him create his own hype on the ice. Cause at the minute all the action has come from GM's keyboard which has yet to be backed up fully.
But less of the Penner hype and back on the game. Panthers to win this one convincingly by 3 or more goals. (hopefully)

The way we've (Devils) played the last two games, I really can't see anything other than us getting brutally violated, if we score 1 or 2 goals it'll be an act of God...
On Saturday up in Sheffield on the bigger ice our defence looked horrendously slow and Sheffield created no end of odd man rushes and i'd say beat us to almost every single puck.
I haven't seen/don't know anything about the team you guys have signed, but I admit to being underwhelmed as the signings came in, however with the defeat of Coventry, in Coventry no less kind of fills me with fear now...
Not sure if Voth will end up playing on Saturday, it was suggested on Sunday that he may have broken his hand during the fight with Clark in Sheffield, although it could just be an injury and a week of resting it will hopefully help...
Chris.

Cause at the minute all the action has come from GM's keyboard which has yet to be backed up fully. they are doing it to sell tickets.... and i think its the right thing to do..... why have an enforcer / entertainer and not market him. that would be stupid. You might know that Voth and Penner will be there, however those new comers or those who saw the game on sky for the first time, or heard the hype from last weeks games may be looking for a game to come to, seeing the words about potential bad blood or scraps will be something they are looking for in choosing their next game (i know i would be). It makes perfect sense to market the hell out of Penner. i always enjoy it when the Devils come to the NIC, one of those love to hate teams. lets hope for 2 points and a convincing win.

Would be great to win by 3 or more goals but would definitely take a 1 goal win. The more points in the bag early on the better. Would be good to get Henderson and Levers back for this one. Anyone heard anything?

Surely that is not family friendly viewing and certainly not something I want to see.

According to posts on THF and The Inferno, Shannon Hope has said on the radio that Voth will be out for up to a month. Even if it's not that long, that pretty much rules him out for Saturday.

Potentially a good thing for us...
On Sunday Voth was replaced on the 2nd line by Ben Davies and the line seemed to work better, Davies played well and didn't stop chasing the puck, leading to our 3rd goal I think it was...
On the other hand, our defence doesn't look fantastic going on the games we've played and Sawyer is the man who's been asked/expecting to fight instead of Voth, if Penner targets him we're going to be down 1 man for a fair amount of time :S
Nottingham related though, do you guys expect to have Henderson and Levers (I think?) back for Saturday? What forced them to miss the previous weekends games?
Chris.

Devils are a better team without Voth.
Diserpointed Penner won't get the chance to give him a sound thrashing though.
Have the Devils still got The Tulip? wouldn't mind Penner hammering him, Finnerty or Adams. Also Running Lyle in revenge for what they did to KSP last season, would be sweet.
Probably not going to happen, but we should have the measure of Devils on the large Ice.

Panthers to win 6-2. Stevie Lee and Matty Myers to check Finnerty so hard he ends up in a dustbin.

i think we might be on the end of a bit of a backlash from Devils recent results. close game, panthers to win 4-3 defence still all over the shop.
Lee to fight Finnerty Sawyer v Penner

I think it will be fairly close but obviously hoping for a win. I will go 4-2 Panthers.
I think saying the Defence has been all over the shop is a little bit harsh. To say it's a new unit and Lepine had only just landed. We were playing against 2 of the top sides and 2 of the goals in Cov I would put down to Kowalski. To concede 3 against the Giants in 65 Min's and 2 against the Blaze in the Skydome is pretty good going.
I thought there were a lot of very good performances from the D men.

Think I'd agree with that. We can't go on conceding 7 goals a weekend but similarly 2 games is hardly a very good sample size. I thought we looked fairly solid against the Giants once we settled and it was defensive lapses that cost us rather than them being generally all over the place. I thought Lepine did a good job considering he arrived only a few days beforehand. The biggest thing will be Corey exercising some discipline in himself and indeed instilling some in JZ so that they don't see every puck carrying moment as an opportunity to abandon all semblance of their defensive duties. I'm not wanting them to stop that offensive nature of their games, just perhaps reign it in a little - we have more than enough firepower to be able to afford for both Corey and Zion to be slightly more concentrated on D. Sometimes I do get the feeling that our teams (in years gone by mainly) resemble something of the typical school breaktime football match, played out in the yard with a tennis ball - every man and his dog up at the attacking end wanting to be part of the glory and one lone kid stood in the goal at the other end waiting for the inevitable 1 on 1 break to materialise.

Penner took a stick to the face and some other hassle from one of their guys last year and never got to get revenge so whoever that is I'm pretty sure that's who the fight will be with (sorry for my being vague on who the Devils player is but I haven't really been paying that much attention)

I think saying the Defence has been all over the shop is a little bit harsh. over the 3 games i have seen. our D has very little shape and organisation. i'd like to see them tighten up more. our defensive work on Saturday and Sunday was panic defending and if the offence of the opposite teams had been sharper the scores would have been very different! we gave away far to many opportunites across the middle. far to often Leppine and Zion were caught well out of position. players being dragged into the play when they shoudl have been sticking by the goal and closing the passing / shooting lanes. this lead to some very close calls for Kowalski. Sunday we gave up a short handed goal after an absolute nightmare of a defensive play. i'll accept in both games period 3 we were much better but it needs to be better from period 1. all my opinion of course.

I cant see us losing to the devils at home but I dont think we'll whitewash them. I would like to think our D will get better as the season goes on
