thats really good. i think that it will actually help attendances. I for one adopted a rugby league side about 5 yrs ago, from watching it live on sky. i now go to wigan games home and away.
think it will also help to explain the rules to people so that when they actually get to the game they dont pester the person next to them. im taking some new people to the game to the belfast game, and im already preparing my explanation of the offside rulings.
It should bring in new sponsors and help to keep existing ones. Does anyone know if the league are being paid by sky or not?
I think the only negative affect it will have is less people will travel away if they know the game is being shown on sky live.

I think the only negative affect it will have is less people will travel away if they know the game is being shown on sky live. these are the REAL questions. I know that the Live Playoff final cost the league a fortune! if its a case that the league is paying sky and not the other way round this may be a financial step in the wrong direction unless.... as you say it can attract some major new sponsorship. I to would expect away fan attendance to drop, i certainly won't be driving all the way to Newcastle for example if its on Sky, the closer ones like Sheff, Hull, Coventry maybe not so much of an issue as i'd choose live at the venue over live at home the majority of time. Don't think it will stop people going to home games if anything it may (as mentioned) attract more newcomers. lets hope the Positives outweigh the negatives with this venture though!

Does anyone know of a Sky Sports Schedule for the year?
It must already be planned in and the pubs advertise all of the other sporting events for months to come.

Let's be honest, we don't even know which teams will be in the league yet. let alone who will be on sky.

I think sky price on viewing figures. dont quote me though. Upto X amount you pay Between X and Y no charge but no revenue Over Y and Sky pay you.

As there are only 8 live games to be screened, I don't really see it making any difference to crowds.

random games at random times of the year???... really hope this manages to sttract interest but just can't see it unless it has a massive advertising push and/or gets a mantion on sky sports news.
Not to be biased, but they should all also be the arena/stadium teams for it to attract a viewing audience

Fantastic, that's bound to get interest from those that wanna take a look but don't wanna sit through an entire game?

I know you see the odd bit of news scrolling along on sky sports news. but i reckon the key to raising interest has to be if they show the goals and the fights on sky sports news channel. everyone watches it. its on in all the bars all day and we even have it on at my school in our com area. (well until it goes off free view).
When i go to the usa you cant escape these types of programs, they are great for pumping things up a bit! they make high school hokcey sound like the world cup its ace! skysports news is just the same.

Still agree though, a few shots of a packed NIC and Penner going toe to toe or DAB bagging an OT winner will soon get the punters down to check it out.

No doubt it would be great for hockey, it is supposed to be sky sports news after all. Atm it's almost like the sport doesn't exist! No harm in showing brief highlights as opposed to seeing the same boring piece of football news rock around for the hundredth time! (and I am a football fan btw!) If you don't live in a hockey town there just is no other way fan's will get exposed to the game without this.

I think Ice Hockey ranks slightly below Speedway with Sky.
If SkySports news could just pick up on the Fights I'm sure they would show them, wonder if they even get video high-lights sent to them?

Ice Hockey ranks way, way below Speedway in the eyes of Sky. Definately, speedway is on live nearly every week and its almost always on skysports 2. I think that this is the sort of coverage the elite league wants and I reckon it isn't unachievable
