They need to get their fingers out and announce the whole weekend so people can book cheap flights and hotels. Do they want people to turn up or not?

To be fair GM is supposed to wait for the league to officially release fixtures - he can't really make it any clearer than he has via the OS, Panthers @ Giants Friday night, Bruins @ Giants (EIHL all stars) Saturday.
Book away.

what more do you need??
the date of the Bruins game has been announced and then a massive hint as to the fixture of the panthers game...... i think that tells you what flights you need to book with 95% confidence.....

Panthers @ Giants Friday night, Lets just make this clear on here! GM: "Officially our own schedule isn't released until the start of next month so officially we can't tell our fans the exact date of our game against Belfast on the same weekend. The Giants sometimes play on Friday nights at home, put it this way, we haven't got a game anywhere on Friday October the 1st." it will be on SUNDAY!!!

As reported in the NEP
Panthers will also be playing the same weekend in the Province, more likely to be the Friday night, which is a big coup for the travelling Nottingham fans.
Maybe we have to wait til July 1st

Officially announced yesterday afternoon......
On Monday afternoon in Boston, the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL) the top ice hockey league in the world, announced that they will be playing a challenge match against the Belfast Giants Selects in October 2010. This is a massive coup for the Giants, the UK Elite League and for the city of Belfast. No NHL team has ever played a match against a team in the UK or Ireland and the Bruins are one of the most famous ice hockey franchises in history. On Monday, I met Cam Neely, the Bruins President and former NHL Superstar to officially announce the game.

I think the wording on the Panthers' site is a bit misleading. I think GM is trying to say "We aren't ALREADY playing on the Friday night. It wouldn't make sense for us to play the day after the main event. Hold our game on the Friday and you have a much better chance of a bigger crowd, and would we really want to commit players to an exhibition game the day before what is likely to be a crucial League fixture?

Reading it back it is ambiguous (and strangely it didn't appear so to me first time around). I still maintain it will likely be the Friday as that's what I'd heard previously and also appears to be Mick Holland's info (which will be direct from the club).
I hope it is Friday, we don't need to have our key players below par because they took part in an exhibition game less than 24 hours before a huge EIHL clash.

Lee, Don't take anything for granted in British Hockey until it is officially announced, then view it with doubt. We're probably talking about £100 difference if you add an extra night in a hotel and a day in Belfast, thats why I need to know what day we are playing mate. Cam Neeley, what a Legend. My second favorite player ever, just behind Bobby Orr.

Lee, Don't take anything for granted in British Hockey until it is officially announced, then view it with doubt. This i completely agree with, I'd rather the league game be before the Bruin one, 2 points is more important than seeing a bunch of Elite league players being given the run around by an NHL team.
