Are'nt as bad as those that went said they were, or we could be in for a false dawn. One thing that worries me, assuming most of us are right about those playing for their places, why did they suddenly play well, if that what it takes to motivate them I'd rather do without.

Exactly, there seems to be too many fans out there prepared to make excuse after excuse for most Panthers players, regardless of their level of performance or league position. I've noticed with interest over the course of the shockingly poor recent barren spell, where there seems too much personal affinity with certain players (Player X was great last season for Team Y, Player Z's a smashing bloke etc.) for my liking. The general malaise towards letting players off concerns me, and I think certain imports can hide much more than they could when only three were allowed to ply their trade. Panthers more than most have had imports in the last five years who have been allowed to drift through seasons without really putting any notable effort in without generally being accountable to anyone. Sorry to be blunt about this folks, but if we break it down into basics, either play up guys or get out

It's called getting behind the team and players when they need it most, not jumping onto their backs! As for Newcastle, they aint all bad, did miss weaver and some of the flair from ferone and donkey etc was missing but they are no push over.

Why have we started yet another thread?
All this is being covered on the Newcastle game thread.
What's the point of this one?
