Hi everyone, This is my first season watching Ice Hockey and have to admit to being hooked already. Having spent most of my life in a city with no ice-rink, let alone an ice hockey team, it was all a bit new to me. I saw this site mentioned on the Elite League forums so thought I'd come and have a look and it looks like a great site. I was wondering whether anybody could help me regarding registering to use the Elite League forums? I'm having problems registering and my e-mails are being bounced back from their help contact. I shall no doubt be posting on here quite a bit now I've found it. Hope nobody minds a newbie posting a new thread

I must admit that I was nearly put off when I saw what colour they wear If/when I get a jersey it'll have to be the away strip! Thanks for the reply though Pete. I was beginning to think I was being ignored I've still got loads to learn about this game but I'm working on it - think I'm going to have to ask lots of questions!

Welcome to the Cage Genie - an injection of enthusiasm is welcome, especially when Panthers are struggling and the pessimists are in their pomp. We're all still learning about the game (well, most of us ) but there are plenty of knowlegable and helpful people on here from time to time, so it's always worth asking if you've got any questions.

Are you trying to register on the official Elite League forum? Wasn't aware of any problem there - it's usually easy to register on that website.
Welcome to the Cage Forum - you'll get to know us soon - we're a nice lot (usually) ;D
Many of us will be at the game on Saturday - will you be going? Where do you sit?

Thanks MP ;D
I'll certainly be doing my best to cheer the lads on. I sing/scream my heart out at the games (shame there's not more people around me doing the same though).
It's easy to be all defeatist when we're going through a rough patch but I strongly believe that the only way to get through it is to stay positive. I'm sure last night's result will have gone a long way to renewing some confidence in the guys. Lets hope so! They started the season so strongly. The 9-4 win over Basingstoke wasn't a bad game to see for my first one!
MP I take it that you're not one of the pessimists then?

Hi Lucy,
Yes, I've tried a couple of times now. It tells me that my e-mail address isn't accepted (it's a hotmail account that I use daily so shouldn't be any problems - same one I used to register here). So I tried to e-mail them. It let me send an e-mail but it bounced back to me later on.
Any ideas?
I'm definately hoping to be there on Saturday. Haven't got myself organised this time yet though so will just have to get tickets on the day.

Welcome to the Cage... like MP says, if you want to know anything, just ask - plenty of people on here ready and willing to help.

Thanks Matt. I think I'm already starting to experience the highs (Basingstoke 9-4) and lows (the first Sheffield game ) Hi Shaggy. Didn't think there'd be anyone else on here from Leicester. How come you follow Panthers if you're from Leicester? Are you Notts side of the county?

Not sure if that's the case with the eLite forums but it should say somewhere in their sign-up rules. Shaggy is a Leicester Exile. ie he no longer lives in Leicester. However there are people who come to nearly every Panthers game from a lot further away than Leicester!

Sorry, I'm not really thick, just read his post too quickly and guess I mis-interpreted it.

Many internet forums don't accept applications from people with hotmail/yahoo addresses due to spamming. Not sure if that's the case with the elite forums but it should say somewhere in their sign-up rules. I've never joined the Elite League forum so can't speak from experience. Don't think the rules actually say anything about e-mail addresses other than they must be "valid", but I suspect Twix is probably right regarding the use of a Hotmail account. Try registering under another mail service if you can. Am I a pessimist Genie? No - I try to be a realist. In sport there are few things that are absolutely certain so there's usually some ground for optimism - however misguided! ;D I want/expect to see effort, skill and entertainment at a hockey game - if do then I'll be happy enough, win or lose.

Hi Genie Forget about registering with the forum on the Elite League site, not worth wiping yer ....... with This is best forum (obviously ;D), but register with Steeltalk at sheffieldsteelers.co.uk Its great therapy to annoy our Shuffter mates up the road. The only other forum I would register with is thehockeyforum.com where those (in)famous Panfer fans twix, shaggy, and Pantherkim are often found residing HL PS: Ignore texpefs posts...he's a miserable owd git ;D, whilst runnerbean is unhealthly optomistic all the time Me...I don't say a lot and sit on the fence

Welcome Genie I remeber my first season so many highs so many lows so much happiness and so much upset. Money spent on what I truely love, banter envy and every other montion possible. Looking forward to every saturday night when there is a home game somtimes going home on a high like no other and other nights wishing id stayed at home. Summer months looking forward to any bit of news coming from the Panthers reguarding signings or anything and excitment of seeing new players.
Wow 20 years plus down the line and I still have them feelings, trust me your going to be set for a rollercoaster ride. Id never have it any different! A league title would be nice tho but no matter what these last 20 years to me have been awesome! Any new fan is in for a treat thats for sure!
