According to the Hot Line Evan had a really good game.
Matus got the MOM....but Gary says they all deserved it...
Some funny calls again from Moray Hanson that Mike Ellis objected to.
Ferone tried to get Ryan but he walked away..let his stick do the talking with GWG....
Well done to them all....

There is no reason for Shmyr to fight when we are winning and havent won for AGES!!
No doubt it'll be a different story next weekend........

Excellent stuff, just what we needed. Now please, please move on from this and restore some faith in the side.

At last!!!!!!
A good win though, with goals from those that have been lacking in firepower!!
No doubt there will be those that will say that Shmyr bottled it,but in my eyes he got his priorities right!
Now please prove my previous posts,on the Bison thread, wrong and go on a winning streak!!

Ummm, a gritty win on the road just as the axe is about to swoop.....??
Despite me being pleased at the win, do I sense that players have had to 'pull their fingers out' tonight to sustain their place on the Panthers roster for the remainder of the 06/07 season?

Just got back from Newscastle. Not the prettiest of games but a wins a win. Real battling performance with bodies being thrown to protect the slender lead. In patches we played some good hockey and made the Vipers look quite ponderous. I thought that the guys who have been getting most of criticism (me included) performed well tonight. Overall a good team performance. Lets hope the confidence flows back through the team.

Not the best of games but two points are two points and they're very welcome! You could tell that some of the players were playing for their future here tonight so it was very welcoming to see Stevens and Petricko on the score sheet. Let's hope that form carries on. Newcastle weren't very good so it remains to be seen whether we're truely out of the slide but credit to the team for grinding out a win and bringing the drought to an end.
I had to laugh at the Newcastle announcer and his pussycat jibes. Mock us off the ice all you like matey, we'll take the points thanks!

A win is a win but let's hope those who pulled their fingers out maintain it. Otherwise all they've done is prolong the agony.

I went, Worth the trip to see the win and the pure elation on their faces at the end. They all want to win so badly. After last night its a big turnaround in their attitudes at least.
The game wasnt the best of games.
A win is a win. Lets claw our way back up to top spot now eh. No slacking, its far from over.
Corey didnt look bad tonight. Evan along with the D pulled off some clearances from massive scrambles round the net. I was sure that one in the last second was gonna be in.
Shmyr laughed in Payettes face. Id have loved to have seen them go. But Payette was quiet all night... intimidated? I heard hes not been his normal self all season. Ferone seemed to want to go most but Shmyr just shook his head. As said he spoke with his stick and nailed a goal.

Just a few thoughts (my own opinions) re a few players tonight.....
Lindsay - very, very good. Some desperate saves at the end and possibly could be faulted with Vipers equaliser.....he gave up a rebound from a fairly poor shot, but overall he did well
Neilson - good. His passing was accurate and his positioning spot on.
Petricko - looked more like the player he was last season.....just hope it's not just because he was proving a point playing against his old team.
Stevens - must have been close to being Panthers MoM (although Petricko was good, I suspect he got MoM as an ex-Viper player who's still respected). Stevens didn't just work hard, he scored and looked more 'threatening' than in any previous game.
Shmyr - concentrated on playing....came under immense provocation from Payette at one point, but didn't want to know. Disappointing for those of us wanting to see Andre's face plastered round the plexi, but from a 'needs must' point-of-view, did the right thing. Concentrated on playing and got a deserved game winning goal.
Emersic - usual hard-working self with a little more purpose than of late (he got an assist).
The rest were all fairly good.....Rees and Meyers outstanding in defence, alongside Krajicek. Moran not bad tonight, either.
Anyway, a great result and next weekend will tell us if it can be 'built upon'.

See-told you it was Ferone who wants smears head! Hopefully by next week Weaves will be fully recovered from a great weekend for him (He had a daughter on saturday) and our full strength team will be ready. Missing imo the best player in the league isn't the best thing for a weekend. But there are still changes we need to make. Payette and Wilson should not be icing for us.
