Tell me again how the Panthers problem is goaltending.....
Before the CC Panthers scored 4.50 goals per game and gave up 3.0 goals per game
After the CC.. Panthers scored 1.57 goals per game and gave up 2.7 goals per game
So before the CC we were scoring 4.5 goals per game and after we are only scoring 1.57. Our goal production has plummeted by just under 3 goals per game. How many games will any team win only scoring 1.57 goals per game and being shutout twice?
Before the CC we were allowing 3.0 goals per game and now we are only allowing 2.7. We are allowing .3 fewer goals than before.
We have a goalie with a GAA of 2.67 (3rd in the league) and a save % of 91.6 (ties for 4th but the next up is only 91.7)
Yes his confidence has obviously suffered in the last few games but is it reasonable to expect the goalie to do it all when you look at the performance of the rest of the team. People seem to be magnifying his every mistake and inventing soft goals. (there have been a few but not the “numerous”, “many” etc and the characterization of mistakes as “blunders” and other innuendo that are used).
There are also comments about the other goalies playing blinders. Some have played very well but have been made to look much better by the Panthers taking low percentage shots, shots from the perimeter and having no finish around the net.
This is a response to Mike Holland’s article in the Post which was submitted:

“Well it looks like Holland and some fans have decided that Evan Lindsay should be the scapegoat. Everyone seems to forget when the team came back from the CC and began playing horrendously Lindsay was one of the few that kept his game up. It's only been in the last three or so games that the general malaise that seems to be infecting the team transmitted itself to Lindsay and his confidence began to suffer. If the team had produced even an average output on offence, especially the powerplay, we wouldn't be in this situation and Lindsay's confidence would probably still be high. Score some goals and the problem is over.
Sid Jarvis, Nottingham”
He makes the point well.
One other point to make is the home ice advantage for the Panthers has become the "home ice disadvantage". When you boo one playeer you are booing the entire team and they all feel it. The fans have become the seventh man for the opposition.
Score some goals and the drought is over.
