DId anyone see his reaction as Clarke was named MOM? He didnt seem happy, and seemed to be seperate to the team, and threw his stick in the tunnel. Didn't seem a happy chappy - am I missing something?

it's getting to the whole team, however i do feel simoes is one of them players that gives all every game. He throws himself around, chases lost causes and much more. Maybe he did deserve the man of the match award.

Ah, glad that's all it was. Fair play then if he hates losing.

the bloke is an absolute gem to Panthers, hes one of those players that no matter how bad the fans feel about a defeat, he'll always feel ten times worse

seems like we might as well not have him most of the time though, with him being benched for the last 5 mins pretty much, and been wasted on the third line with Myers and ferrera
IMO hes our most influnetial player and creates tons of chances on that third line, but he doesn't. he could replace shmyr on that first line for the last 5mins or so of the game when we were looking for a goal. or any of those three on the second line, his determination alone is going to get him a few goals alone

The fans can identify with Simoes as he gives 110% every shift

What's wrong with Shmyr?
The only problem he has is is his speed. His awareness, stick handling and footwork is incredible. I think he should do a bit more intimidating.... openly... I'm sure he has words as he skates by.. but anyway.
His game is amazing, I thought he would be a bit redundant if there was no enforcing but that's just not the case.

Also, there has been noticeable lack of the general niggling of our players this season, less cheap shots and attempted intimidation, which must surely be down to the fact that this year we have Shmyr. He doesn't need to be in the face of everyone, he just does his job (and does it well, I think) but if anything starts to kick off he is generally right on the spot making sure no liberties get taken. Will be interesting to see what happens against the Vipers.

Shmyr, dont even go there mate, in one respect could possibly be a contender for MVP. imo anyway.
the fact noone has a go or dishes out cheapshots is DEFINITELY Shmyrs doing, and the fact we have a good team ethic helps.
no hes not fast but as far as everything else goes hes a top fella and a great team guy.

Gotta agree with Nick, Teddy and Lammy about Mr. Shmyr. He is the definitive hockey policeman, he doesn't have to throw his weight around, he enforces by just being there. Will disagree with Higgy regarding MoM - that should have been Mike Rees - our stay-at-home D-man who was hitting like Simoes, coming up with the big plays and passes as well as clearing up the mess made by our less effective D-men. He was even jumping in to forecheck attempting to keep our offence alive.

But I am one of Rees' biggest fans, and couldn't believe that someone said on another thread he thought he was poor!! As for Simoes, this guy is the true definition of 110% Coaches always say it but you very rarely see 90% usually but this guy, along with a couple of others, always gives 110% every shift!! He may not be high up the scoring but he is gonna be pushing for MVP with Rees, Clarke, McAslan and Shmyr so far this season!!

Krajcek isn't getting the praise he deserves IMO, easily our best D man and easily the best puck carrier from our zone.
just alround quality from him IMO

Shmyr brings balance and toughness, youd notice him if he WERENT playing trust me!
Simoes breaks down alot of team plays thats why he doesnt play first line, I think hes a complete Legend and pay my money every week because I know hes playing but in terms of fitting into systems he struggles, hence hes not on the PP much and last 5mins didnt get that much ice. He can do it on his own and play at a high speed but when it comes to making simple passes and working the puck and big shots they are his weak areas. Still, like I say a complete legend tho!
He always gets upset at losing and stands on his own after the game, are we gonna have this every week? Its not that hes not a team player its just what he does, guy likes his space after a match

imo, dont think Simoes reaction was anything to do with him not getting mom. after the last few losses at home i`ve noticed that he doesn`t skate round the ice with the rest of the guys, but stays in the middle for a few seconds, and then goes and stands at the exit. didnt see him throw his stick, but i would think he did that because he was gutted at the score. To me i think that Simoes is the one player that is genuinely upset about the way things are at the moment, god how i wish we had a team full of Simoes.

Granted, that's stating that i hate Derby more than Leicester but it doesn't make it any less true. If i had to put together next years defence, i probably wouldn't have anyone from the current line-up.
