Haven't seen this mentioned on here yet, but the WAGS of the Panthers will be holding a bucket collection around the stadium on Saturday night to raise money for the victims of the devastation in Haiti. I know that there are plenty of other areas/charities etc that need supporting, but some loose change on Saturday night will be going to something very worthwhile. Haiti Collection

I cannot afford to, and will no doubt be made to feel guilty thanks to circumstances I cannot control.

All they are asking for is pennies. Could you not forgo that beer/coffee/sandwich/chocolate/ a ticket to the game? If you are really down to your last penny then guilt would not play a part.

Do you know there are people in Nottinghamshire without homes and food who would be far more appreciative of the money? You should remember your "last penny" post when you next ignore that Big Issue seller and keep your £1.50 for yourself.

I always put in the 'big issue' coffers - talk to the sellers, buy them a drink - never ignore them. I know all about the issues regarding homelessness in britain - can you say the same?

All they are asking for is pennies. Could you not forgo that beer/coffee/sandwich/chocolate/ a ticket to the game? If you are really down to your last penny then guilt would not play a part. and this is exactly the attitude that Jonzee was talking about. people should give if they want to give, not because they are guilt tripped into it. im not going to give anything tonight. i am going to enjoy my beers, yes plural, and im going to watch a hockey game. i dont see why i should give tonight just because others expect me to. guilt does pay a part, regardless of having the money to give or not. people like you intensify that guilt and as a result of that, people do avoid charity collectors, they do walk past big issue sellers. before have a rant at people for not wanting/having the ability to spare cash hard earned cash next time, think about how your actions may impact on them and how what you do and say may deter the giver from future donations. and for the record, we've been collecting at my school all week, so i have made more than enough for my contribution, thank you very much. see, i felt i had to justify why im not giving tonight. that is a direct result of your attitude. im still not giving tonight. do-gooders like you can cause more harm than good.

I dont give big issue sellers diddly squat, the money people give them goes to drugs/alcohol, which to be fair is why they are on the street. But, i did donate to Haiti.

Give the women their due - £1500 is no mean feat. Well done.
It's a pitty the Panthers Organisation didn't feel up to donating their half of the 50/50 money tonight, they are not down to their last penny.

If the 50/50 money is raised for a specific purpose then it can't be used for another. The £2k raised is a fantastic amount of money. I wasn't at the game but if I had been I wouldn't have contributed anything either. I only support specific charities and will only give to those and no other. My funds are limited and I simply can't afford to give to everyone that's collecting.

I think a few people are missing the point in this fund raising. I believe this was organised to allow any fans who came to the game to contribute towards an extremely worthwhile cause (yes one of many I know). Alot of people attending wanted to support but hadn't had the opportunity to so far. The Haiti earthquake is all over the news at the moment and has been pretty much everyday since it happened but I for one hadn't had the opportunity to donate any money. I'm sure if I had researched it I could of found many ways to contribute but when I heard about this I felt I would wait and do it on Saturday. I support other charities as well yes with only a small monthly donation and there are other charities that call me each month and I decline to help them. No one expects everyone to support everything. This was an opportunity for those that wanted to, to contribute. Would it be better that people stop fund raising all together just to save the few people who don't want to/ already have or can't contribute from feeling guilty? I don't think so. This is a great achievement for Panthers fans, a record for Panthers on a bucket collection, we should all be proud.

Sorry forgot to mention the Sheffield fans who I am sure also contributed towards this, they should also be proud of the total raised.
