One for the statisticians...
We have now lost successive games to Rouen, Salzburg, the Scrabble team from Denmark, Edinburgh, Manchester, Hull, Sheffield & Coventry.
When have we ever lost so many games on the bounce before?

Because I was a stats anorak in those days, I can tell you that in 1983/84 we lost 9 on the trot. This was part of a run where from 27 November to the end of the season we won 4 times in 24 matches, conceding 236 goals (i.e. 9.83 per game ). Conceded double figure scores 13 times, including 20 v Durham. Eee you young 'uns. You don't know what it is to suffer. Try going all the way to Ayr to see your team lose 10-1 etc etc

Worst it ever got for me was going to Durham and seeing us lose 20-1 during the Miners Strike and then having the police get on the bus as we came back into Notts. They weren't so keen on having a bus come into Notts from Durham in those days. Anyhow, back to the original point - so that means that if we lose on Friday we equal a club record? God help us!

Unless this is turned around rapidly we could easily be 5th or 6th in the league by the end of November

Can I help you?'. Anyhow, back to the original point - so that means that if we lose on Friday we equal a club record? Depends if you're looking at straight losses or league only. If the latter we still have some way to go, although my stats for this only go up to 1992/93. Also, we are a world away from the ineptitude of our team in 1983/84.

Stef I wholeheartedly agree with you, I look back at programmes from the early 1980's and wonder how we got so many people to turn up to the games and queue through the night for tickets when you consider how often we used to lose and by cricket scores too!
If anyone has a better plan for where to spend saturday night lets hear it, if nothing else it gives us something to talk about for the next week!

To be fair if you exclude the CC (better opposition) its not that bad. 3 lost and 2 in OT that may have been draws but for the OT/pens rule. At worst 5 lost in the league.
Stef...In that same season cant find the 9 on a trot but around November time we won one in 14 games . Less I am wrong we beat Whitley Bay 11-5 away , was that right?

After a quick scan I can find 2 seasons when we lost nine on the trot. 83/84 Dec 17 Murrayfield Racers 5-11, 18 Durham Wasps 3-9, Jan 7 Dundee Rockets 8-15, 15 Streatham Redskins 6-9, 21 Murrayfield Racers 4-11, 25 Cleveland Bombers 4-7, 28 Durham Wasps 5-8, 29 Whitley Warriors 8-13, Feb 4 Fife Flyers 6-13 87/88 Mar 12 Fife Flyers 5-13, 13 Durham Wasps 4-19, 19 Solihul Barons 5-9, 20 Whitley Warriors 1-23, 26 Durham Wasps 5-7, Apr 02 Whitley Warriors 7-13, 09 Durham Wasps 2-9, 16 Durham Wasps 3-12, 17 Whitley Warriors 7-11 What an end to a season that was.

Mick - the nine game losing streak was part of a one-win-in-fourteen run punctuated by the Whitley win. You're absolutely right Pete. I'd missed the 1987/88 streak with the last 4 games being in the play-offs. As you say, what a set of results. Take a look at those two weekends in March when we conceded 64 goals in four matches. Imagine if that happened now. All you young 'uns would need counselling. Those four losses in the play-offs took us to a P12 W0 L12 record in the play-offs over three seasons which became thirteen consecutive losses in the first play-off match the following season. But we all remember what happened after that, don't we?

After the 87-88 season losses mentioned. Can we add another , as I believe we played Solihull in the BRMB Cup on the 25th of April but I am unsure of the result?
If we did lose it gets worse as the start of the 88-89 season had us lose in August versus Cardiff on 21st 5-8 in a challenge ( lost ? 11)and on 27th we drew (could have been an OT lose if we had played them then) 4-4 after that. We then lost sept 3rd v Whitley Bay 5-8 in the Autumn Cup too before a win, thank god.
Stef...sorry .Yes, the 9 games lost were after that Whitley win, don't know why I did not see it.

Spik In one of your less lucid moments you must have missed the thread I started on this. Look hereBetween us, we came to the conclusion that the game was never played. Why I have a programme I don't know. There's a rare one for you, there won't be many of those about.

is it a programme printed in the hope the game would take place and then we never qualified for it? sorry if you already worked it out just a thought i had.

No. It was a one-off game set up with us and Solihull as neither of us qualified for the play-offs, so just a bit of an end of season knock about really. There was no cup or points up for grabs, purely a challenge game. It came from someone connected with the club, but I assume no-one ever even went to Solihull on the day. I'm stumped, and it's probably too long ago for the donater to shed any more light on it.

Baz, You know I never listen to what you say. Joking apart....I do recall something , but even you know I won't put 2 and 2 together and realise that THIS game was the one. I hadn't noted it in my fixtures as a non played fixture ....now I have put a note to that effect. Thanks for the reminder , I am listening this time round.

Effectively bad news that we did NOT win it then. The losing streak continued.
