Following on from Lee's request for info on Toronto, I wondered if anyone had been to Chicago and could make any recommendations.
We have tickets for the New Years Eve game between the Blackhawks and NJ Devils, which I am looking forward to.

Been to Chicago a few times but not since 04.
If you don't have a car, you'll need to take a bus to the United Centre.
The Navy Pier is a must. Many resturants and live music plus loads of other stuff to do and it was always packed.
If you enjoy going up buildings for the view then you have the Hancock and Sears Tower.
There's always the beach and the waterfront but it my be a little cold so you may have the place to yourselves :-)
The Bulls and the Bears may be at home whilst you're there?
There's usually something happening in Grant Park.
All in all chic-town is a very nice city. I walked back from Grant Park to the youth hostle I was staying at, at 2am and felt completely safe.
Have a great time and I hope that helped a little.

I like Indie Rock and the last time I was there they had some decent local bands on in a battle of the bands type thing, however as stated I haven't been there for 5 years, so I guess they had a lot of good and awful nights since. Cheers
