Say McAslan is out for a couple of months, we have only one consistant scorer. The player brought in to score goals never gets involved enough to put big numbers on the board. Yes he is a good player but and out and out scorere he aint. Sorry Rod you've got to do a lot more for me, as quite honestly I hav'nt seen much for one of our alledgedly big earners. So to another point, is it me or does our netminder be prone to lots of silly mistakes, they seem to be quite a frequent occurence, any thoughts?

if McAslans out then hes out, not much we can do about it really but it would be quite a blow.
Rod is a very hard worker and i think he will come good.
we had a netty who made a fair few mistakes the other season, Sundberg, and we won our only silverware i can remember. Lindsays a top netty imo so lay off him

As a very good friend of mine used to say - "it happens, get on with it" - we have to do the same, whether it be ME or A.N other we have to live with it and get through it.

Well Nick, your post about the Cov game and your reply to my post are quite unconvincing, lets just carry on then shall we, he's sure to come good.

Dont think anyone stood on him, not that I saw anyway. The hit I thought was bad and the player should have gone but it wasnt to be.
As for Lindsay he does come up with big stops when our defence goes AWOL.
Players to go for me would be Neilson, Rees and Stevens as they just dont cut it.

Rees is a good solid D-man!
He isnt noticed as he goes about his business quietly and does nothing flashy, but he's our best D-man up to yet.

REES to go are you joking?
Rees is doing his job perfectly you can't fault him
there not one player you can put your finger on that is rubbish in this team, in previous years theres been players like krulis etc who you have wanted gone.
dunno why we aren't winning anymore as we have a mix of everything to suit all styles of play

Our best player at the moment is Danny Meyers, and that is saying something when you have a team of highly paid imports.
Rees is a solid D-man, and like has been said, it is not noticed because he is the type of player who just gets on with his job. Plus he seems to be a stay-at-home D-man most of the time.
As for Evan, have you noticed that 3 of the recent 'silly mistakes' have taken huge deflections. IIRC, the first a few weeks ago came of Blaz's stick and looped high before falling just below the crossbar, the second was a high dump that Danny Meyers attempted to catch, knocked it down and through Evans legs, and the one against steelers on Saturday that again took a big deflection from a shot from the point and caught Evan off guard. He made some huge saves on Saturday, as he has done all season. I dont think he needs to come good, i think he already is.

I aint taken to Rees, he coughs up the puck far to much for me. Maybe I just have a downer on the guy but he doesnt do anything for me

He isn't at all flambouyant either and does things with the minimum fuss and effort, so doesn't catch the eye much of the time. Overall though he seems solid and comes up with plenty of big saves. Like many another goalie before him, he really would benfit from a sound defence playing in front of him, but it seems he will have to manage without this season.

I have to agree with lukethomas, Meyers is a class Brit who could easily pass for an import. I wouldn't cut anyone just now. No need to panic or cause unrest within the squad. Losing Mac is a blow, but I'm sure ME & the boys will work it out. Have patience & faith.

I don’t post on here very often but like to read the comments that you guys put. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and personally I don’t think Evan Lindsay is up to it. I cringe every time there is a one-on-one, surely you have to question the goalie when we haven’t yet won a game on penalties. I did give him the benefit of the doubt at the beginning but I’m just not won over by him. Don’t fly off the handle... comments please.

You can't judge a nettie on penalty shots to be honest. Being an ex-netminder myself, they are the hardest thing to face, and i believe that if a goalie saves a penalty shot then he has done well. Some goalies are good at them, some are bad. Once you get to penalty shots, you already have a point in the bag, and i believe it is up to the shooters to secure the extra point, not the goalie.
Where Evan shines in this league is with his rebound control. A lot of goals in the Elite are scored from rebounds. A goalie who stops a shot but lets the puck land in the slot area has only half done his job. Evan sends a lot of his rebounds to the corners, or way out in to the high slot area if nothing else is available. This will stop a hell of a lot of goals through the course of the season.

Rees.... I agree with heja. Great D man, you only notice him when he makes a mistake.
So is Danny Meyers. Absoloutley cracking. Cant fault him at all. A bit of an offensive player as well when needed!
Evan. Yea he worries me a bit that he does that thing with his shoulder.... its like he flinches away from the puck. He does down and forward while twisting round. Not sure why. But that said he has only really 'lost' us 1 game... and that was Saturday. Yes the team should possibly have played harder to keep that lead but the goals were soft. IMO he makes some great stops. As for winning on penalties... well... we have come up against Minard, Wolf and Lehman. Against Wolf and Lehman Id blame the choice of takers rather than the goalie... Neilson (whos driving the loser cruiser) and Myers just arent penalty shot takers.
To be honest, I wouldnt even be looking to gas anyone yet. These are the same guys that won us all those games before france. The same team that really played well (despite the result) on Saturday and seem to have gotten their act together. If I HAD to pick one on pain of death it would be Neilson, just isnt cutting it as someone 'too good to play here'
On the upside.... we have only failed to take points from 3 teams... sorry... make that 3 games. Still not bad going really.
And Kreciek is AMAZING... if he doesnt get supporters club player of the month it will be a travesty.

I agree Rees is just what we need at the mo, Krajicek is getting a bit irate at the mo I think because hes fed up of things not working but still the best D man in the league and Danny Meyers has exceeded all expectations and looks pure quality, not just for a brit.
Neilson knows things arnt working for him and hes working to sort it out, but...welll he should, hes been shocking. Lindsay, average imo. You cant blame him for the slump tho really, ie last night we didnt look like we wanted to score at times!
Mcaslan we need to either temporarily scratch or need back asap, with Clarkey not scoring a goal a game we look screwed! Whats Mike Peron doing these days?!

dirtyden, how can you blame Lindsay? we conceded one goal on sunday night, that means we could have got away with only scoring two to win the game, right? well two goals is hardly out of reach for a football team never mind a hockey team.
we need to get a win on the board, i have a good feeling once that happens we'll be back

Krajicek is getting a bit irate at the mo I think because hes fed up of things not working but still the best D man in the league After Weaver, of course... Rees, and Meyers seemed to be doing the business as well. Wouldn't gas anyone just yet. But then waiting too long could end another season for you guys. Changes certainly have perked us up a bit. Even Cornish got 2 goals at weekend.

Did'nt blame Lindsay, in fact I think he's a decent keeper, just lets sloppy goals in, my main concern is STEVENS, never involved enogh for me.

No problem with Lindsay but surely Neilson is this season's Sebastien? No no no Im not his biggest fan but hes no Sebastian. He is 10x the player Seb was last season and gave out some rough stuff sunday which is how we need him to play to be effective
