Nottingham Forest chairman Nigel Doughty will cough up £20million this summer to turn his Championship strugglers into promotion contenders. Doughty, 52, has deep pockets as the coowner of a European private equity firm. And boss Billy Davies is expected to bring in at least six players - with QPR keeper Lee Camp, Man City striker Ched Evans and Spurs fullback Chris Gunter in the frame. www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/2009/04/30/dough-is-there-for-forest-boss-115875-21319900/

I think £20m is a bit of a stretch, and if it is accurate then it will include signing on fees and the wages in their contracts. I think transfer funds will be far more towards the amount of about £10m. This however, is still superb.

If we were to touch the main stand, we'd completely change it. There's no chance we'd just add a new tier on top.

We'll spend £5m which is a lot in this div. Boro are down and NEWC maybe next. We'll need to burn cash.
At least we have a manager who knows what he's doing. Let's see if Mark Arthur gets in his way.

Hang on this article was written in the Mirror. I find it hard to believe anything that is written in the red headed papers.

forest are using the 20 million to partly redevelop the main stand by adding another tier I am pretty sure that you couldn't build another tier on the Main Stand for under £20million.

Proof of what? They may build the stadium, they may not. It really depends on Forest establishing themselves as an EPL team.
Nothing will happen for at least 3 years. The MS redevelopment won't happen though. TCG is big enough if Forest can't go up.

Of course nothing is an option. Nothing is what they've been doing for the last 10 years and will be for next few. Eventually they'll probably move but that could be in 10 years or in 20 years time. Forest could spend another 10 years out of the Prem. We just averaged 22,299 so we're hardly in need of increased capacity. I'm sure Doughty has noticed how teams who've spent millions on a new stadium have hit the skids. Southampton are the most recent example. Eventually we'll move. Eventually they'll be a new Broad Marsh!! ;D

I was talking long term there, we'll either move or redevelop the main stand.

There is only a very, very small chance we will do nothing. That was from Doughty himself.
Anyway, kinda off the point. We'll spend plenty, but not £20m.

Whatever development takes place it will cost a lot more than 20 bloody million.
As it stands, we need to develop on the field and cement a position in the Championship at least. We don't need more seats until we are filling the City Ground every week.

Eventually Forest will re-establish ourselves as a Prem team. At that point we'll move. Let's hope it's soon.
If they don't go up then I can see Sheff U being the big spenders. They're loaded. MID will spend. It'll be intereting to see what Derby and LEIC do.
