Must be true, both refs favoured Panthers apparently Not quite what I said as I dont think either Ref favoured anyone. Morays intreprtation on the Saturday however did lead to a better game. Most Panthers fans who were at the game I think will agree that had the Panthers lost either game, but especially the Saturday one, they would not have been surprised. As for those pics of Keef and Ted??? How do you think I feel? Its My Sofa Bed and my kids have to sleep on there

Here is the newspaper report from tonight's Edinburgh Evening News
Admitedly a little biased but may give a different perspective.

Sorry Ian! It was very comfy though! Most sofa beds are rubbish! And again, thanks for letting 3 random strangers and one strange bloke (shaggy) stay at yours for the weekend!
As for the refs, both were pretty rubbish towards both teams if you ask me. Staniforth gives out 10 mins like there were going out of fashion. Hanson did have a better grip on things but was by no means good. Staniforth gave out a 2 minutes 'Captians Attitude' Penalty to Cingel which is the first time Ive heard of that! Never mind seen it called.
Sundays game was better for the panthers, it was going to be close all the way through. Unlike Saturday. We palyed out socks off to come away with 2 then! Wont desecribe it any more and Keefe and Kim have done it all. But what I will say is the team passion, Simoes came over to the bench and fans whooping and punching the air, So did Danny Meyers at the end. Everyone celebrating goals as well! It was great.

Good weekend results wise and sounds like everyone had fun. Thanks for the phone call Keefe...enough of the complaining about not getting my number over here...I emailed you which would work if you ever kept the same address for more than 3 days. So Little Andy crashed a wedding? Interesting. More interesting for me is to see that he has a new shirt...the killer question being, who paid for it boyo?

Who do you think paid for his shirt XX!!??X And everything else for that matter.
Great weekend, two good teams, two good games, two inconsistant referees.
Edinburgh were a far better team than I think anyone of us from Nottingham expected. They were quick and exciting to watch and could have scored a bagfull of goals. I can't remember the number of times they were one or more on EL but failed to score.
They certainly deserve a bigger fan base than the estimated 200-300 that were there on each night.
On this subject, when we got back to out hotel after the match on Saturday night, not 500 yards from the stadium, there were two chaps drinking who said they were Caps "fans" and asked how the game had gone. Both of them said they did not go to the matches on a Saturday night because Saturday is not for hockey!!?? Didn't notice them on Sunday either.

Edinburgh police are looking for a group of men dressed in Black & Gold shirts, they are wanted in connection of the mugging of the Edinburgh Capitals for 4 points over the week end. These incidents took place on the evenings of Saturday and Sunday They would also like to speak to two men dressed in vertical black & white striped shirts with orange bands on both arms who assisted the first bunch of men in the above incident... ;D If I was a Caps fan, I would be very dissapointed that they only got one point from both games. We allowed them to rush us on the break after the D men all went awol. They have some very quick skaters who will punish other teams. Some silly penalties from both teams allowed the game to open up. At one stage Panthers played shorthanded for about 8 mins continuously, sometimes5 on 3. The defence was on top form for these and were laying in front of the puck to prevent it going towards goal. It's a wonder that the ref did not give a penalty against us for diving.

Edinburgh do need to advertise more. Whether it is a financial issue or another reason I am not too sure.
One of our taxi drivers didnt know where the ice rink was until we told him. Another one said he didnt know that they still played and used to go watch them when they were the Racers.
There should be a massive fan base given the size of the place, and also the amount of tourists that pass through the place.
It's a shame as they have put together a very entertaining side this season.

We were talking to barman in the slug and lettuce who saw our tops and started asking, Apparenly he played for South Africa in the worlds against Matt Myers and knew Dino Bauba played for caps but had never got around to going to a game.
They do try to do a lot, i know they do mail shots and the evening standard (i think) reports on their games.

Just a word or two re Evan L. and James N..
At last night's game (Sunday) my daughter had the honour of presenting the MoM award to the Panthers player. (Obviously she was overdressed in t-shirt, fleece, Panthers shirt, hat and long-trousers, unlike the chap who did the similar presentation the preceeding evening.....well done, Shaggy !!!).
Anyway, the point I was going to make was that if there was a MoM award done over the 2 games, then Lindsay would probably have won it. He was 'guilty' with the Caps first goal on Saturday and that was unfortunately the one that kick-started the Edinburgh team. Other than that, I thought he was superb over the 2 nights. He made some really 'big' saves, notably the penalty shot that would have made it 6 - 3 Caps had they scored, and a number of 1 on 1's (and 2 and 3 on 1's when the defense left him high and dry !).
Finally, just also mention James Neill's MoM award. Absolutely fully deserved. Often when a British player has a half decent game they tend to be given the award when really there were better players on the ice. Not this time, though. James N. was awesome. After all the face-off problems we had last season we already had the answer in our team !!! I couldn't believe the number he won last night. And not just the face-offs, he covered all the ice.
If my daughter's lucky enough to make anymore MoM presentations, it won't be to a more deserving winner than James Neill last night. He was that good.
