According to today's NEP ( INJURY HOODOO STRIKES AGAIN):- There's no messing about here... we're losing players through injury, and Mike Ellis is getting more in PDQ. Can't be bad... Link added

Bad news?
As we learnt with last season's injuries, if a player is de-registered in order to register another import the de-registered player must sit out a minimum of a month or 6 league games whichever is the shorter. I didn't think it was meant to be that bad an injury.
Panthers must think that Stevens will be out long enough to make it worth it. Of course another consideration is the fact that we had two British d-men injured who we couldn't bring in a replacement for. Maybe they're using Stevens' injury as a chance to register Calle whilst we have Meyers and Mopes out. It means we lose Stevens until Rouen (Cardiff vs Nottingham on the 8th October would be 6 games out) but we are gaining a d-man in the meantime. If Mopes comes back as expected Ellis will then have a choice of whether to play him forward or back but I'd guess at the back if they're signing another British forward.
Edit: Somebody at Romford said that Krajicek didn't play yesterday though he did come back and play on on Saturday. 3 regular D men out instead of 2?

If the injury i had to my groin when i over stretched while playing football, a month to 6 weeks is the recomended recovery time, to agrevate a slightly scared or torn groin and make it tear or knott up could mean a season on the side line, so to de register him and put in calle giving emersic chance to play up sounds a good idea to me. better to be safe than sorry. As for the krajicek, he may be nursing a small knock or something, again better be safe than sorry and not play him in a friendly match, save him for edinburgh weekend Good to see though that Ellis is looking at bringing up tallent from under 19's and uni teams.....so long as they play like cooke or moran in terms off grit and determination then they will do for me

But they are injuries because of hard work, we used to be the worst hit team in the league for injuries every year "back in the day"! At least with Calle we have a guy who can skate and tho unspectacular wont let the team down.
Theres loads of good british talent in the EPL, Mike will have had someone in mind all along

I get the impression that this Brit Winger would have been signed with or without the injuries purely because he's going to Uni in Nottingham.
As for Calle registering to play...fine. He's one of the more reliable D Men in the League.
At least we have cover available this year.

Any ideas as to who this could be? Word from the East says it's JAMES FERRARA, who played for us a few times last season. Thomo at Coventry was also expressing his interest, so if it's true, we've done well to get him!

No problem with Calle either, but doesn't that mean that Stevens has to be de-registered for at least 4 weeks, making it distinctly possible that he may not make the Continental Cup Tournament?

The 6 games would be Edinburgh 23rd Edinburgh 24th Cardiff 30th Hull 1st oct Belfast 7th Cardiff 8th So should be good to be re-registered for the continental cup on the 13th

Looks like having Calle in the set up was a good move, but wasn`t expecting to see him play quite as soon as this. Hope all the injured guys recover soon, but in the meantime more than happy to have Calle playing again. Must still have some money in the pot if we are getting a new guy,

I very much doubt it will be James Ferrera - he's signed for Peterborough Phantoms in the EPIHL... and is, I think, also at least a candidate for being on a two-way contract with Coventry Blaze. EDIT: Having just logged on to THF, I see that a couple of Peterborough fans think that it will be JF - and have confirmed that he is going to be attending Nottingham University. I'll just shut up now.... ......

Are Cardiff not playing out of another rink dave? I believe Cardiff have been playing their 'home' games so far out of Basingstoke (both rinks - Basingstoke and new Cardiff being owned by Planet Ice). However I imagine it will depend on ice availability in Bison land...

There is no Panthers game on the 8th October. That is why The Cage are sponsoring Nottingham Lions v Kingston Jets.
See the sticky or pm me for further details of how you can help :-)

Stevens could play in the Continental Cup regardless of being de-registered.
It is not a UK competition and under IIHF laws he's on our squad even though he's de-registered so it wouldn't matter. I'm pretty sure the de-registration does not apply to the CC on the grounds it's not run by Ice Hockey UK.

does that mean we could ice ellis and carlson in the CC as well as all our other imports? I don't think we could play Ellis as we would be listing him to play jsut for the CC and I'm pretty sure that players in the CC had to have played some regular season games for your club. However it's a while since I've checked the rules and they've been updated again. If anyone wants to trawl through be my guest. Continental cup rules here
