Wow yeah i saw it coming! ellis has them running smooth, they dont start well (1st period is our weakness from both this game and belfast) so if we get that sorted im sure we can go on and win easier (not coming from behind like the first 2 games we have so far played)
My 2pence there!

My input for the game would be that defence looked rocky at times but otherwise solid, Evan Lindsay has what it takes to be a good netminder but whilst making some decent pad saves needs a little more work and Clarkie, McAslan (well worth the wait) and Simoes were certainly impressive

well for one i thought for it was a good game.
BUT
totally agree with the previous post about a poor start. At the end of the 1st i was thinking not again!!
BAR the opening face off in the 2nd - the rest of the game we were awesome. Some of the goals were spectacular IMO
I know we are only 2 games in but tonight we showed a plan B and put it into effect. Clarkie amongst others was on fire and i think the extra responsibility on him worked.
BUT - i lost count of the amount of times the opposition got a 1-1 break with the keeper( i'm sure it was a minimum of 3), i feel they are the type of things that could cost us in the future.
I also feel that the new rules are definately a positve step for the league - and it turns it into a more offensive spectacle.
Sure it will take time for players to adjust and i think it definately showed in the 1st for both teams, but it definately did basingstoke more harm than us in the 2/3rd period.
Well done Mike and Calle - lets see what next week brings!!
A great start Panthers - lets keep it going.

thoughts on tonight showing
Defence non existant alot of the time Jan and Corey are more concerned with scoring than stopping the goals at our end. howebver i do apreciate that we are missing 2 stay at home d men in meyers and moran so hopefully that will sort itself out.
goaltending - not sure bout Lindsay at all didnt seem to hold on to much and let alot of rebounds out.
forwards - all played very well clarke is definately the one to watch this season hope he keeps injury free. mcasland looks very sharp and simoes hits like a train.
only down side is that it seems the refs are not just calling the cluching, hooking and grabbing but the legal hits aswell which is not what ZT is suppos to stop.
all in all im looking forward to this season should be great when the players get used to the ZT

Just 3 comments from the game:
1. Zero Tolerance - Excellent idea. Makes the games much more open and interesting
2. Boniface IMO had a good game, at least 90% of his calls were spot on. Well done.
4. Lindsay was not at fault for at least 2 Panthers goals and make some great saves, the save when we were 4-3 ahead was probably the turning point of the game.

the zero tolerance is abit OTT IMO, too many calls being made...maybe half zero tolerance would work

What happened to Meyers?

We thought it was a good game - cant remember a score like 9-4, though my memory might be fading a bit :-)
What is the score with Meyers? And what was with Shmyr not appearing for nearly all the 2nd period? Cruikshank hasn't changed much and as for Shuff reject Farrand he's still in need of a significant amount of attitude adjustment IMHO. Stevens and McAslan showed their class tonight and as others have said Clarke was really up for it , nice to see, and good to see Cooke getting a regular shift.

good idea about calling just christian names then we shout the sUrname after each GOAL, but most of us still dont know them yet but as soon as we catch on it will be good like on the continent .Then them up the road will copy and say they started it first .Good last 2 periods THING CAN ONLY GET BETTER

We need surnames please, sounded really tacky. Especially for away fans who don't necessarily know players by their first names I think it's abit naff. To be honest I thought he had just forgot their surnames. Please please revert back to the old way!

i didn't like the lack of surnames either, i know they shout surnames at other rinks but its not for us i don't think! i'm normally cheering and dancing while they are doing all that announcing business!! Also wasn't there because i missed the beginning but what was happening with the entrance of the players? my family said it was like we'd seen them a hundred times before and not like they are our new season team at their first home game... any comments?!

Going on tonights pims for Basingstoke, I don`t think I`ll get lonely on the penalty bench tomorrow. I'll bet you didn't get lonely Carolle. I'm surprised that there was enough room for you in the box at one point during the second period. So many men and so little time eh!! ;D

Good game overall ;D Announcing the first name of the player for the goals i hate Entrance calling names out after there all on the ice i hate Music is not great Lindsey I'm not confidant about but we will see Rant over First period was a bit of a flop but after that cracking game form all players especially Clarke and McAslan i cant remember ever seeing a joint mom! I think the idea of having 3 good lines instead of 1 very good 1 OK and one poor (Brit line) is a grate idea. Our constant pressure allows us to wear them out and IMO thats the reason we have been able to launch comebacks in both games this weekend Fantastic effort and a 3 point weekend. Very happy keep it up boys! and nice to see Shuff failing miserably after hyping themselves up so much ;D

I think that the fans shouting the goalscorers surname will catch on.
I may be in a minority of 1 but that is a good idea. Get's them more involved.

good game tonight, great start, then we let off and they piled up the pressure, beginning of the 2nd period i thought that it might turn into a Panther/Steelers score line but then something must have been said and we began playing like a team again. cracking goals all round tonight, clarke and McAslan were on fire and deserved the MOM, Simoes was making himself know every shift, overall a good night of hockey.

I sit on the front row behind our bench, and heard the physio say it was his shoulder, he went off after he was boarded down the non-stage end of the ice in the 1st. At the end of the match, he was shaking hands with players with his left hand, and keeping the right in his pocket, so I assume it is the right shoulder. Good game in the end, at last we have players who can score, and can even score in the top corners! ( was sick of the shots for years either being along the ice or into the net minders chest!)Simose was my player of the night, the hits he was giving out were awesome! ...and even better ... LEGAL He never stopped all night and looks great on the puck. Also thought there was some very good passing tonight too. Now if we can shut that big hole up at the back, this year is the one! I hope Lindsay was just a bit nervous tonight, and hope he stops letting things bounce, but the defense was a bit lacking too ( but at one point we had no Meyers ( and obviously no Moran) and Rees in the box for 10 mins too. Think that was when we were at our worst. Anyway Loads to build on, forwards that shoot and score is all Good and Clarkie looks back to his best ! Well done Lads, now lets get on with sorting out the back! All training should be shots on Lindsay till he catches 90% this week...

To be fair Martin it's the first time the Panthers have tried it.
It took a couple of goals to work out what was happening but we'll see how it goes.
