3-3 according to SteelTalk. Sheffield playing with Lawrence between the pipes. Steelers goals from Hill, Maltby and Sarich. Think its about the end of the 2nd.

Hull will be nobodys push overs this term! They are very, very quick! and look to have a decent nettie.

I thought on both nights Hull looked pretty handy. I think they have the speed and the grit to do well and they have excellent netminding. Rizk is a complete waste of an import slot as he's never on the ice and by this I don't mean he's always in the box either. The guy never seems to get a shift.
As far as the Steelers are concerned this team is like a breath of fresh air. On first impressions we seem to have everything. Size, speed, thoughness and skill seem to be getting better every period the guys play. For the first time in I'd say four or five years we have a really big imposing defence that is physical but also really mobile.
It's been obvious in both games that the guys are knackered but looking through this a few guys really stand out. Ricci, Tessier, Maltby, Manzano and Phillips look something else.
It'll be interesting to see how Clouthier fits into the team now and I think he could make or break it for us. If he's in the mould of Rizk and Cornish I can't see us winning the league although we may be able to win one of the cups. If he can play then we'll definately be up there.
No matter what though with this team and the other in the league shaping up how they have we're gonna have some fireworks. ;D

I tell you what, if all elite league games are going to be as good as this one then it's going to be a cracking season. Write off Stingrays at your peril. They look a good team unit and are very, very quick. Couldn't really give a fair assesmant of the Steelers as they were 2 imports down. However, Tessier is still a class act and Maltby was excellent, but Sutter looked distinctly average. Ricci is still a rock in defence as was Thomas. If this is the Steelers we are going to see, I wouldn't be too worried to be honest.

Great game tonight from a hull fans point of view and theres some very happy Hull fans tonight, not becuse we won, but becuse weve got the lookings of a team that can compete, to be honest I was fearing the worst this season, and yesterday I was thinking of a hammering, but we have got a team of grafting players who are playing basic, disciplined(positional on the ice, not the pens with ZT !) with no super stars, and well balanced lines
Kevin Young looks the pick f the bnch for Hull, but Kharchenko looks the real deal, and considering hes got blisters on his feet the size of 50ps from his new skates .....(typical Urainein sold his old ones before he set off!) he has great hands, and scored a pen shot in reg time straight through 5 hole, and the only one in the penalty shoot hand a lovely back hand deke
Funny how different fans see things differently with regards to Rizk, he was on the 3 rd line which saw a lot of ice time tonight, and he offered to dance with Darby and Phillips on more than one occasion, not dropping his glves just yapping in their ears, and it kept the Steelers quite with regards to intimdating the rest of the team......He will get his cahnce next Saturday, no doubt when we play Mobly from Carphone Warehouse..... he will be licking his lips more than Vanessa Feltz in a cake shop!.......at the end of the day, thats a good enforcer......We are under no illusions that he is a good player, but he does bring something to the team, so in that case he isnt a waste of an import slot
Tessier looked good for Steelers, and the others had workman like performances, Lawrence is a good goalie, glad to see him get a chance to play, and to be honest played better than Leeman did yesterday.

Care to elaborate on Steelers peformance? Picked out several good games for certain players but overall not impressed? That's exactly it, good individuals but not a great team performance. However, they were 2 imports down and had Lawrence in the net (However that's probably an improvement!) so I can probably give a better assesment after their game with Cov on Saturday. From the evidence of tonight I think they'll rely too heavily on Tessier & Maltby.
