why is there like 3 games being talked about in here So the Steelers fans can look in on the Cage and say "Look! The Panthers fans ARE obsessed with us, they've got 4 pages on our game already!" ;D

Yeah, Keith says they were the best team but couldnt stay out of the box due to silly penalties! Steelers were average at best.

Well from Block 109 didn't hear any boos aimed at Tessier. He deserved MoM - arrived at the arena from Manchester airport one hour before the game without any equipment. Apparently its still floating around Manchester somewhere. Hull started off much the better team but Steelers started to settle in the second period and improved again in the third. Hulls problem was an inability to stay out of the penalty box but to be fair Carson called absolutely everything which meant the game didn't flow. Looking forward to seeing the Steelers once Gustavson and Clouthier arrive.

No booing for Tess heard from block 215 either, think someone's being a bit mischievous with that rumour ;-)
Quick ex-Panthers roundup for ya...
Sutter also arrived only an hour before the game, took a while to find his stride but showed some nice touches in the second and third periods. He'll do fine :-)
Ricci was his rock-solid steady self at the back, and really looks to be a leader on the ice, I was pleased with this signing when it was announced, and he looks like a good 'un.
Tessier - didn't see him lose a faceoff all night (but I wasn't counting, so he may have done) but considering he was playing with borrowed skates and sticks, still looked a class above anything the kippers had to offer. He was on the receiving end of a good mid-ice hit, but just got up and carried on. Tough little terrier of a player, isn't he?
On to your all-time favourite Steeler... Andy Carson was a busy man tonight, but called it straight down the line, and took the time to explain to the players what he was calling and why. No apparent arguments from the players when they went to the box, and if it takes a few weeks of pain (and scrappy stop-start games) to get used to it, then so be it. The end product will, I think, be worth watching and that's good news for everyone! It may be teams such as Hull that will struggle more with it, from what I saw tonight they have a lot of harriers and hustlers, but not much in terms of skill, and not much (aside from hugging, hooking, tripping etc) to counter the better skilled players they will meet... but only time will tell. We'll also see if the other, historically more lenient refs, stick to the same standard of enforcement. If not - it's gonna be a long season.

Apparently been posted on Steel talk , was a panthers fan sat with Ull fans who was booing . Don t know cos we sit 3 blocks away. Heard some guys in front of us booing but think it was for the decision and not aimed at Tess .

No booing for Tessier, but there was booing at Carson after he called Tess for diving (when he was clearly tripped.....) now that's the only point when it might have been percieved by visiting fans (of any persuasion) thinking that the Steelers fan were booing Tess, but they were wrong.
Good result IMO and despite a sluggish start and letting a couple of goals in early I thought Steelers dominanted much of the remaining play. Once we get the last two import forwards in then I can see us doing even better. ;D

Well me ted and sonia are back from sheffield... just to quickly clear up, i didnt hear any of the sheffield fans booing tess... quite the opposite really... we were sat with the Hull fans and they were joining us in the banter at tess.. nothing nasty before anyone takes my head off just good natured fun. Infact we cheered for Ricci, and even cheered for sutter, but that was because he had gone to sheffield and not come back to us.
The game... i was impressed with hull, i think they have a stable team and a hell of a lot of speed. The Hull nettie impressed me, took alot of shots in his stride and seemed to pass them off with ease. They also have a 15 year old kid called lee who impressed, A well built lad who had no problems throwing it around with the bigger guys, inface a few times in the night he had a dig at Darby. The Hull "goon" is Riszk (or something like that), hes a nut case. You could see the evil in his eyes... never really got to go for it, although at one point he was ready to take on 4 players that had gathered around him. All in all i think hull are going to be better than everyone expects, and i very much doubt they will be the whipping boys. The fans are ace, really good fun and really enter the spirit of the game. Also it appears that they have a dislike for sheffield almost as much as we do, the bitter taste of Darren Brown still lingers up in Hull i think.
Sheffield... didnt really shine in the 1st 30 mins of the game, and although simmsy used the "3 players have just landed" line, hull were in the same boat. I think they have some work to do on team building, however, they will be a decent side all apart from Jody. Tess, well he looked a shadow of his former self to begin with, but it wasnt long before he got going, still has the flare, and once Matsos has based the whole team around him, im sure he will start banging them in. I saw him lose 3 faceoffs tonight, one thing me and ted were watching with an eagle eye! Ricci... well if the sheffield fans are on their forum saying he wasnt any good then they need to read up on hockey. He was as someone else has said, as solid as a rock. Didnt look like he wanted to check to much, but he did the job in the D and still has an awsome poke check!
Would have been a good match if it wasnt for ZT. As scuff said, its here to stay so we will have to get used to it, more importantly the players will have to get used to it. At present i guess the players are as clued up on it as we are. My only concern is the people that are implimenting the ZT. Carson in my eyes tonight, called some soft calls but missed some massive ones. Will have to wait and see how the players and refs adjust to it. But to have so many PIMs in a friendly is just mental.
Nice to see some of you lot again too... although, i think most people were avoiding Nemisis most of the night due to him walking around with powerplay and that wonderful pic of BDS.
Wasnt to sure about the whole Hot tub at the stage end. It seams that people can hire the Spa for the match and watch the match from the hot tub (complete with BBQ). Strange.
Like people have said already, cant judge on a preseason friendly, but i was impressed with Hull, but sheffield, we will have to wait and see how they gell. If they bond well then they will be good... just need to sort out the fitness level and make sure the players are ready to go for the whole game not just the 1st period.

Children started crying and running to hide behind their parents when they saw Nemesis ;D This hot tub and furnitre thing at the stage end, don't know what all that was about, suffice to say it was embarresing. This is supposed to be top-flight hockey in the Uk and whatever it was meant to be just looked stupid.
