He has only really played NHL and AHL for the last 10 years though - I've seen players come here billed as skillful stars with a worse AHL points record than he has. His stats look no worse than Brett Clouthier and even Ryan SHmyr IMO, just slightly fewer PIMs.
Should be the toughest in the UK this season though.

He can sit on his backside in the penalty box - who cares.
I think Sheffield-Coventry-Newcastle are going to have their own little compertition for the meatheads bragging rights.
Let them get on with it, we will play hockey instead.

They will definatly be entertaining but I cant see a team with 4 heavyweights winning anything this season. Are they taking a gamble that the ZT rules will not be enforced? Im going to Newcastle on saturday to see them play the Blaze. Ndur has a tough weekend ahead of him and its only pre season.

The Panthers have signed their share of guys with 'healthy' PIM totals. It's not Nottingham Vs The Goons, don't kid yourself HL. (Newcastle excepted!)

Looks in the Jason Clarke mould.
Calling them idiots is totally uncalled for tho, why are they idiots because they fight? Goon team would be fair enough I guess. One thing tho, the north east will be a tough place to play again this season

Don't confuse team toughness with having a team full of goons, there is a MAJOR difference.

Vipers are not a team of goons. Ok, on paper it looks it, and certainly we may struggle with the whole goal scoring bit, but defensively we are one of the top sides. Goon wise, well, Brantt is an unknown, Jeremy likes to drop the gloves, but isn't a dirty player, Robinson cleaned up his act last year. If you don't believe me check his stats out. Ferone, again is not a dirty player, whilst he is one of the toughest. I rate him as one of the top defensive forwards in Britain. Which leaves everyones mate Andre. Apparently a slimmed down version this year. If his fitness has improved then he could be a danger points wise as well as PIMs. Everyone was saying this about us last year, laughing at our 2nd rate BNL players and goons, and look what happened. The Vipers are one of the most successful franchises in British hockey since our foundation(of the 12 major trophies available, we have won 3, finished 2nd in 3 and reached another semi final, something that so called 'bigger' clubs can only dream about), and I have no reason to doubt Rob has put together another winning team. Whilst I doubt we will win a trophy this year, we will be up there.

Think about it, the more meat heads they have, the more they can take out our players. 3 fights before your outta there (well 3rd strike your out) but if each off their guys choose the few hard guys, take them to 3 fights and then oh dear they still have 3 guys out of 5 left and we lose two of our big guys, or in hulls case both their enforcer players. for the teams with fewer than 3 "big guys" newcastle could use the rules nicely to their advantage.
i see it working this way.....well thats how ide do it with their roster.

I don`t remember it working for us back in 2002/3 when we had 4 Enforcers.I just remember us killing an awfull lot of penalties! Entertaining as it was,I don`t want to see us go down that route again, been there done that!

Yes, but you don't have to fight them, or keep fighting them! How many games do you really think will have 6 or 7 fights? Most have none.

31 PiMs in 1 game for the Bruins! A game penalty counts for 25min so its not too difficult to pick one up

So his 31 minutes were probably 3 minors and 5+Game.
Still not bad going.

I thought it was: Game = 10 mins Match = 20 mins
It's a bit tricky to track down in the NHL rule book, but it looks to me as though a Game earns 10 mins and a Match also earns 10 mins (though I guess that would be in addition to the Game/other 10 min misconduct and therefore totals 20 mins)
I could be way off track there, but that's how I "understand" it.

I think you're right. In the NHL, a misconduct, a game and a match all count for 10 minutes, and the 5 minutes served in a 5+g or a match count 5 too. I suspect Myhres got a 2+5+10+game (=27mins, a fairly common call in the NHL to have a 10 thrown in there) in one incident, and some other minors thrown in.
Just found this....12/Nov/02 for the stattos.
All the scrappers are out. Boulton and Ray get a little pushing and shoving going. Ray goes to skate away. Myhres grabs Ray and drops his gloves and spins Ray around. Ray falls to his knees, throws his gloves and tries to get up. Boulton jumps in and then everybody gets in and starts wrestling. No real fight. Boulton and Myhers both for some reason get thrown out of the game. Other Penalties: Myhres received an instigator, misconduct and game misconduct; Boulton a game misconduct; PJ Stock a misconduct.
Seems a strange signing to me, very much tail end of career, no real skill, and very much a "role player". As always, time will tell.
