Like they said about Henry. That was ridiculous too. The man has one of the best international scoring rates in the world.

Only 1 off Shearers record and he brings a lot more to the table than AS ever did, as a mere midfielder and not an out and out striker.
I was a big fan of Alan's, England need more like him.

slightly OT but isnt nani a fool! Need a boot throwing at him with fergies good aim! That incident was shocking nani is a blatant cheat- he went down to get away with it what a prat he should be fined from all angles, poor example to set from a so called professional! Saying that hard man lucas neill went down like a sack of spuds it didn't look like it needed that. Nani was going off anyway for that no need to make a meal of it.

Nani let his side and team mates down.
I would personally not pick him in Moscow for that single episode.
As for Torres, who's going to tell Stevie G that he isn't taking penalties any more, great player that Torres is, can I reserve judgement until he has played a few more seasons, too many young players come and have a blinder then slip to average.
How will Torres cope with not winning trophies, after all he is at the 4/5 best team in the land.

He coped pretty well at Athletico not winning anything so i think he will only get better But a year older than the likes of Ronaldo and Rooney. How long before he wants success? Don't talk wet. He's less than a year older than CRonaldo and he's had a stunning first season. LIV will give him plenty of chances of winning trophies. And please don't even mention Rooney in the same breath as the other two. Roanldo better keep carrying the team to success. Those £62m loan repayments need to be met. Another ticket price hike should help. Whcih should encourage a few more to go to watch FC Utd. Well done to them on getting a thrid promotion in 3 years. Up to the Northern Prem League Prem Divsion now (effectively Division 7). I see Chelsea are being linked with Messi. £80m apparently. Can't see it happening. Be great if it did. They had been linked with a £55m bid for Kaka.

well chris i reckon about the same as all those united players felt in docherty's days when our denis backheeled you down to the second division, ;D not to mention your twenty five years with no title now that must have hurt young man! especially as no european cups to take away some of the hurt! ;D Touche amigo!

Your confused again, me Leeds. Both my team and Blackburn have gone more titles in the past 19 years than the mighty Reds. You can have your Champions League, well not this year you cant, what all the Liverpool fans really want is a Premier League title, or a little like us Panther fans a serious challenge for one

sorry chris i was comparing the last 19 years with the previous 25 or to be fair since 1960 when i started going to anfield, you know how these things go round in cycles, i mean once huddersfield were the dominant team you know!
you are quite right i would like the prem but these days money is the key to that, and you can pay 25 mill for a bench warmer and we pay that for torres that is the difference,
switch coaches and rafa would do well at united but would fergie get liverpool to the semi and 4th place thats the question!
Keegan's comments for once were spot on about the top four in the prem but that is even becoming the top two and then us and the arse fighting for third and fourth, the days when a team like Newcastle could try to win the prem are gone!
We need great investment to be able to compete with your lot and chelsea throughout the season, and at the moment i dont see that coming!

While we are on the history lesson, are you forgetting what Fergie inherited at United?, he built the success and in turn was able to buy players. He had to build, the team of Beckham, Butt, Neville's, Scholes all came through the juniors. Fergie was on the fringe of being sacked and would have been had he not beaten Forest in that 3rd round FA cup in 1990. Additions such as Keane, Cantona and Schmeichal made the picture complete and the rest is history. The Utd owners are not unsimilar from yours

Alex Ferguson has consistently bought success. They had one purple patch of producing players but that dried up after Brian Kidd left. Last season was the first time Fergie won the title despite having been out-spent by a rival team. linkMeanwhile Liverpool have been granted permission to build their new stadium: link

Reports over here say Ronaldo won't go until next summer but this differs. For those who don't know, Marca is effectively a Real Madrid mouthpiece. LINKThe deal makes sense.

Messi is the dogs proverbials, but he's playing in the forward-friendly La Liga. I'd love to see how he'd do over here.

Great point - would love to have seen Psycho in his prime, up against either one of these two Ronaldo was unbelievable last season - i don't like his on-field antics, it's attitudes like his and the spoilt brat Ashley Cole that put me off football; but having said that I have to admire his ability. Ronaldo that is, not (c)ashley.

Messi was the consensus top dog in the Man U/Barca clash last season despite Barca's relative poor form. He may be the best in the world but whether Barca can win the UCL is a another matter. Looks like Barca v Chelsea. Close one. I expect Man U to make the final still. This blip will end today.

Typical of me this. Just as people over here recognise Messidonna - I now reckon the best player in the world over the last few months is Iniesta.
Well done Barca. And thank you for giving Man U a lesson. They should be used to Spanish lessons after what Liverpool did at OT!
Only the great teams and managers retain the European Cup.

second best in the world is xavi, makes you understand why alonso and fabregas struggle to get games for spain!
The thing with Barca is they pass through a team not around them, they will pass to a guy with three players marking him with the knowledge that he can control and pass it on regardless of the opposition markers! Beautiful football to watch similar to Arsenal but with an end product more often!
True last british team to retain the trophy did it at wembley with a dalglish goal, ;D
