Looks O.K to me. The Blazer thing has been rectified. Ellis now named in Who's who and Current Squad. Proof once again that the Panthers DO pay attention to what we say? The site looks decent... I do like the addition of the Panthers TV bit - I hope they use it to its fullest potential - could have all sorts of stuff on there (goal clips, fight clips, funnies, briefings, interviews - players, management, even fans? - all sorts). It's too early to criticise it yet, I think. We know what's been wrong in the past - the proofreading has, we know, been a bit dodgy, and the updates slow or missing. But there's no reason to assume that this will continue. Given that someone in the Panthers may well be reading this, can I make a request/suggestion? There's an awful lot of scope for this site - especially in this 60th Anniversary year. This club has an enormous amount of history attached to it - more than just the past few years. Many of us relatively new fans (this will be only my 8th season) would really love to learn more about what went on before. Please - use the potential.... it may take a bit of work, but once it's done, it's there for good. And there are several fans out there (Spik and Pete Walch immediately come to mind) who have enormous amounts of knowledge and expertise that could be tapped. The Nottingham Panthers are the second-oldest club still in existence in British ice hockey. Regardless of what some barely-literate muppet up the road with his dates wrong says, that's something that can be treasured. How about we use what we've got?

We have plans to interview Mike Ellis after the home games and put the highlights of the match's on Panthers TV A.S.A.P I`m even sending one of my camera`s to away games this year to do interviews with the players & coach`s We also have plans to put live commentary on the DVDs this year. This will include guest commentators and players though out the season. ( but not to many players I hope ) So if you see GM missing from his seat, don`t worry ;D ;D He will only be next to me in the box If you have any suggestions please PM me ( clean ones only please ;D )

Couple of points A few posters have commented about the site being right upto date with info -the old site lapsed at times. Shaggys comment about 60th Anniversey is useful. Few hockey clubs have, or will ever have our heritage. Some up the road make fun of us not winning the championship, but behind all the bluff I'm sure there is tremendous envy, and the fact that they way that club is handled, they will never make their 60th year. A new Panthers website and people still need to mention the Steelers. It's still a work-in-progress and should be seen as such. A vast improvement already.

It looks nice, but an old banger with a new spray job is still an old banger. For me it's the content that counts, not the appearance. Thumbs up for the Panthers TV idea, as long as it's kept up to date. As with most things Panthers this off-season, I'll reserve judgement for now as only time will tell.

Yep, I think I'd have to go with Doughnut comments here. Design wise, it's a welcome change and it's cosmetically sound. The TV idea is a good one if it is utilised properly. But many forummers, Doughnut included, have pointed out the obvious: The new design is great but will it be kept up to date? Keeping sites up to date is hard work. I f you can achieve it, the there is your recipe for success. You can have the nicest site in the world but if its not updated, and if it doesnt introduce new ideas, then people will look elsewhere. I'm personally glad that the Panthers have a nice new site, and I feel it's a case of so far, so good. Like Doughnut though, I am eager to see how it performs during the regular season. A good start. Amazed!
I hate it. The colours are even worse than before. Not sure what's with all the white text on yellow background but my eyes really can't cope with it. It's also very slow on my office PC. In terms of accessibility standards it leaves a lot to be desired.
Assume some bits are still work in progress such as the schedule with the badly aligned dates and times with full hour, minute and second format and the results table which appears to be ordered by position but believes position 10 is above position 2 (coded as 1 followed by 0 instead of as 10? ). Note -> Just checked and was surprised to see a hard-defined HTML table which will have to be totally re-done for every game. This must be WIP as it doesn't make sense not to use an generator to do it automatically and correctly. Also the table doesn't meet basic accessibility standards even if it had been correct.
I had assumed that the TEAM and VENUE items on the menu hadn't been done yet but then realised that those options only work if Javascript is enabled for the browser. I happened to have it turned off as I was testing something for uni. If Javascript isn't enabled there is no way to access some of the information on the site and no indication is given that this is the case.
I ran it through the W3C organisation's html code standard checker just for a laugh. It did quite well. Only 81 errors ;D
I just can't see the point. They seem to have done a revamp of the site to make it look more modern but they've not actually tried to resolve any of the issues they had with the old site and in terms of modern coding technologies and standards to make webistes available to everyone they seem to have gone back a step. Will be interested to see how it looks and works on my high resolution Sony Vaio. If I'd paid somebody a reasonable amount for design and it came up with that many basic failures I'd be furious.

Hmm i agree with Twix. I don't like the new site. I don't like the old one either! I had never heard of W3C's html checker, so decided to check it out, and www.google.co.uk had 43 errors, so not too sure how accurate that service really is. Anyway, either way, IMO the site hasn't really gone a step forward at all, another naff design! And the format of the front page isn't so bad text wise, but then if you look at the players the font and layout is terrible. I think on one player, it even says "text here" at the bottom! Rubbish IMO!

How can you moan about the colors of the site. Black and Gold (Yellowish) are the colors of The panthers. Is better than teal and orange. if your eyes cant cope with it turn your screen brightness Down!!
and complain about errors in the site, c'mon people its only been running a day, of course its gonna have some problems but they will be fixed, give it chance to get up and running before complain.
i like it, nice idea with the panther TV. a few errors but you can expect that with a new site. as long as it is kept upto date it could be one of the best sites in the league.
WELL DONE!

Im not complaining about the colours black and gold, just the tones which they have decided to use! And i don't understand where the fact that black and yellow is better than teal and orange comes into this, it's just childish to say something like that.
Shouldn't websites be designed to be user friendly?
Why should i turn down the brightness of my screen to see white text on a bright yellow background?
I assume Panthers have paid for this site to be created for them, and if they have why didn't they try an "offline" version first to check for errors before putting it live?
I just feel everyone is raving about the site and how good it is, but infact it's just as bad as it was before! It's just annoying to see a site that has been re-vamped, go live with mistakes in it, im sure Devils new site doesn't have this problem!

Im not gonna comment on the HTML errors... cos quite frankly... as long as I can view it... it doesnt bother me.... Colours seem find to me... Im getting black text on Yellow background...
I think the sizing is a bit off.... eg the club badges for the upcoming matches are massive.... IMO.... the news should be the 'main' feature of the page.
Errors... to be honest its not a very good start if it goes live with errors. Ill wait and see if it gets regular updates (i.e. daily if need be)

If we're getting techy about it, My guess is that there hasn't been a whole bunch of testing on the site. Probably some high-level system testing but very little, if any, User Acceptance Testing done. I can't blame them for that. The coding is generally fine and the site is ok to go live. It has plenty of bugs but they're probably relying on you guys to make them aware of the bugs that need fixing. Fair enough. Bill Gates has been doing it for years!

It has plenty of bugs but they're probably relying on you guys to make them aware of the bugs that need fixing. Fair enough if they've done it themselves. As I said if they've paid for a professional web design service then they've been ripped off. As for the comments about colours. I don't really care how pretty or Panthers like they are. It was more the fact that the design and coding of the site doesn't come close to reasonable standards for accessibility. While many users may be able to use it, many won't.
