Notts cant wait 3-4 years for promotion. Thats why Short has gone already. If that's the case then it's a very short sighted view. That league is very very difficult to get out of and the jump to the Championship is another tough thing to adapt to, usually requiring a wholesale change of personnel and playing style. Why can't they make themselves sustainable at League One level? hangover from the Munto farce? Ince could do it, but he'd do it on the back of motivational team talks not a structured plan to get the club in a place where promotion would be followed by a good shot at Championship safety. Same as Kinnear at Forest, he was great for the initial job but we should have got rid as soon as he'd saved us from relegation because the players got bored of the teacup throwing and big motivational speeches, once that wore off they were back to being the same substandard players they were before and we quickly deteriorated into a god awful side. Sounds to me as if Notts wanted a proven coach but have gone for the guy who has talked the talk. Big risk because the one thing they don't want to be doing is looking for yet another manager in another few months. They've set their stall out now. 16th place isn't good enough. What will happen if they are in 16th place in January? March? Will Ince be chopped too? Should have kept Short.

I think Hart's too proud to return to a sole youth coach role. It's what he's best at, but i'd not have him in charge of anything else. He's a coach, no more no less. I wasn't saying youth coach - I was saying DoF/GM. Whether he's cut out for that I don't know. It would be a limited job for a club the size of Notts so I reckon he could be good at it.

Quite why any manager gets a near 4 year contract I do not know. Trew keeping up his high standards of stupidity again. I wonder what the pay-off would be. A guy who works for Blackburn didn't have much good to say about him. Said Ince didn’t have his badges or was too keen on putting the work in to get it. He said Karl Robinson was the brains at MKD. Maybe Ince has changed. We need more English managers. These foreigners are ruining our game after all. I wish Ince all the best as I've liked him ever since he fell out with Fergie. But I'm putting money on him being gone by Xmas 2011.

My personal concern about Ince is, hes very much "my way or the highway". Well, this team is very settled and close (in a good way, not a stagnated clique) so its either going to bring more out of the squad (cant see how tbh), or its going to upset people. Davies, Bishop and Hughes are the core of the team, and none of them will appreciate it IMO so it will be intresting to say the least.
Fair enough when he brings his own guys in, he might be ok, but that will be next summer, when people could already be turning on him...

Rodgers signs for New York Rud Bulls with Thierry Henry - bit of step up from Meadow Lane and Lee Hughes!

Can anyone tell me how are Ince junior and Darby doing for the pies? Darby is a quiet, solid right back who does his job without any fuss but hasnt had more of an impact than that (apart from displacing previous captain Thompson). Ince Jnr is a funny one, he looked like a rabbit in headlights to begin with but was by far the most active player on the pitch yesterday (3-0 win over Hatlepool) and in Walsall he did a job too. He gave the ball away a fair bit but always put a shift in to win it back and always wanted it again and was full of running. Also a very good goal to get the ball rolling. In terms of updating the liverpool fans, our chairman has said we want to keep Ince, but its "very complicated", whatever that means.

it may have something to do with the manager issue at the moment, also I know the club want to keep him at the club, so maybe the length of time he stays with the pies this season is the issue, it is all good experience for the lad though!
Darby however has a great deal of competition at the club, and is about 3rd or 4th in the pecking order for his position, so could be a chance of a permanent move here, he is reliable rather than spectacular to watch!

Just been looking at football league tables for the first time in ages. The Championship table looked interesting and made me wonder ...
When was the last time County and Forest were in the same league?

I'm not a fan of either, but I think it was 1993-94, in Division One (The Championship as is).

Went down like he'd been shot - though I suppose Arquin shouldn't kick out at players cause 99 out of 100 would just drop. Unfortunatly part of the sport and unlike hockey, you can't give both men punishments for unsportsmanlike conduct
