Thursday sees the first serious NFL pre-season games and in 9 days time it all kicks-off for real. Who's your team? How they going to do? And what Superbowl do you predict? I predict a 10-6 season for the Raiders with us scraping into the playoffs. The Pats are obvious picks for the AFC title and they may face the Panthers again in the Superbowl.

Philadelphia Eagles
Conference Champions should be a minimum requirement at Lincoln Financial Field, but I fear a Superbowl win will still elude them.

I have a bit of a feeling the New Orleans Saints won't be playing home games in the near future. I'm off to Chicago in December and will be going to Soldier Field to see the Bears against the Green Bay Packers, as well as The Blackhawks against the NYRangers ;D Counting down! ;D

Washington Redskins the sleeping giants of the NFL, not done much for ages. Hoping for a good season though.

Well I can't see us beat the Pats tonight but I do expect us to compete.
Finally, it's that time. Sport's best league returns in the same week as the Ashes concludes. Perfect timing!

Somehow the Patriots squeeze out another win. Talk about a team winning ugly......

Eagles edged out the Raiders
We have a quarterback that can't move too fast because of a dodgy groin and a 1 legged kicker!

I dont know how people can watch american football, i find it so boring.......... Folk say that about ice hockey. And every other sport there is. I was very unhappy with our performance v the Eagles. We had excellent field position and kept losing it to penalties. Ill-discipline has been killing us this season. And every season for 20 years! I guess that is why the Raiders are as infamous as we are.........

Yeah,Sunbeam I'll hold my hands up and readily admit Philly got out of jail against the Raiders.Philly were no saints either in the discipline stakes and nearly 200 total penalty yards tells it's own tale.
Still a gritty effort by the Eagles, though and I have to be pleased with any win.As for the Raiders,I'm sure that the first win of the season is not too far away, discipline permitting.

Raiders win. Pats lose. That's better. Colts at the moment look the best team though the Colts, Buccs and Bengals are yet to play a top team. 103,000 watched the NFL in Mexico. Maybe Wembley next season?

I support the Packers and we're having a terrible season, can't believe we're 1-7...although 4 of those defeats have been by 3 points or less. Having a lot of injuries which isn't helping though

Well the Steelers have upset the applecart to make the SuperBowl and they've done it on Big Ben's back. Roethlisberger is a product of my College team, the Miami Ohio Redhawks (who are also having a fine college hockey season I might add!) so gets my support despite the name and the fact they did for the Bengals (my true NFL allegiance) in the first round of the play offs.
Question is...is it Carolina or Seattle?
I can't believe I'm saying this for real...but...come on you Steelers! If Carolina win the NFC title I will be utterly freaked out supporting the Steelers in the SuperBowl against the Panthers! Wrong, wrong, wrong, please Lord let the Seahawks win!

Pitts are effectively at home. Seattle are a better team. This one is too close to call. I don't even know who I am supporting!
I've got Monday off and this game is definitely the highlight of the sporting week.
ps What a shame Carolina could not make it a Steelers v Panthers Superbowl.

Being a fan of Philadelphia I can't really root for Pittsburgh, although I do think that the Steelers will just nick it.
Prediction:-
Pittsburgh Steelers 24 Seattle Seahawks 21

The Bengals got a good start beating the Chiefs but watching in a bar uptown made me pig sick watching Trent Green get mowed and knocked cold! Not finding space and forcing your quarter back to run can only end in tears... Trent Green gets smashed

Watched it live on Monday Night Football, it was sad to see Big Ben looking such a mess, he had a terrible night, I don't think he was right, still not fit after everything he went through in the summer.
It wasn't a great game but the Steelers losing is good news, I'm hoping its the Bengals year and the Steelers funk lasts through this weekend!
