The windows is closed but:
Tim Howard has made his switch from Man Utd to Everton a permanent one. The fee is 3 million pounds according to Soccernet.
Emile Mpenza is set to join Man City after gaining release from his contract in Qatar. Anyone who played Sensible World of Soccer will know that in 1996, this guy was mustard.
Barnsley have captured Ritchie Jones on loan from Man Utd. Ritchie Jones is not to be confused with David Jones who signed for Derby from Man Utd and has since turned out to be rather good.
Swansea and Keith Jackett have parted company by 'Mutual consent'.
Nuno Valente has signed a new contract with Everton.
Oh, and Andrei Kanchelskis has hung up his boots at the age of 38.

Turned Jones from a good squad player into an influential midfield maestro. One transfer to keep an eye on is Lewis Hyatanga. Loaned out to barnsley for the rest of the season. sunderland keen on a deal in the summer. is tipped to be an excellent prospect, however not sure Davies rates him that highly. Missed out some big deals for Weymouth on your list: Adam Cottrell [Millwall - Weymouth] Loan Danny Phillips [unattached - Weymouth] Non-contract Conal Platt [Bournemouth - Weymouth] Loan could make their season!

I also seem to remember Pearce "sending a message" by kicking him into the advertising hoardings a couple of minutes into Forest's first clash with Man U after getting promoted in 94. A clever booking - Kanchelskis had a pretty quiet game after that.

He was pretty good Spike, remember him scoring a blinder at the CG once. Indeed, a left foot volley from a Lee Sharpe cross. He had a fantastic 1994-95 season. It all went wrong because of his gambling. Quiet game, apart from scoring the opening goal in a 1-1 draw with Forest OK so he scored the goal. But I would still say he had a quiet game - Man Utd were used to walking all over teams back then and would have expected an easier time of it against a newly promoted side. Pearce sent a clear message that his team meant business and they battled hard for the point - including a superb goal from Stan if I recall correctly.

Liverpool are set to sign Ukraine midfielder Valeri Voronin from Bayer Leverkusen. The deal will go through in the summer and both player and club have agreed terms.
For me Voronin was the Ukraine's stand out player from the World Cup. If you're a Liverpool fan, take it from me, this is an awesome signing. If you're not (and I'm definately not) then be afraid: this guy is class.

Bolton have signed Cesar Martin on a free until the end of the season following his contract with Levante being cancelled last month. LinkHenrik Larsson has snubbed a contract extension at Man Utd and will be returning to Sweden for the beginning of the season over there in March. LinkCant say i know much at all about Martin, anyone know why his contract was cancelled with Levante? I bet Man U fans will be gutted about Larsson, he has looked quality for them and his departure will leave them pretty thin on the ground up front!

Mascherano cleared to play for Liverpool announced today. Not 100% sure about how good a move for pool this is, but only time will tell he's a young guy bags of potential.
Man utd will be gutted he's been a good addition to the squad, given them any extra experienced body helping with rotation. Expected more goals from him but he did add to the performance of the team.

West Brom are in the top two at the moment (i think) and Sunderland are shooting up the table. It's not a bad shout, but i think Brum might have something to say.

I saw that on SkySports News yesterday so its probably true but i havnt seen it anywhere else yet. West Brom and Sunderland for auto promotion is a good shout, i fancy Southampton to go up via the playoffs (i have no idea why) I reckon the bottom 3 of the Championship will remain the same with L**ds, Southend and QPR going down followed by L**ds selling all their half-decent players ;D

Also, martinski83 - is what you said about Fiorentina confirmed? After he said the only team he would play for in Italy was Napoli . . Source bbc.co.uk Last Updated: Monday, 26 February 2007, 14:31 GMT Lupoli signs deal with Fiorentina Arsenal striker Arturo Lupoli will join Fiorentina at the end of the season. The 19-year-old, who joined the Gunners in 2004 from Parma but made just one Premiership appearance for them, has agreed a five-year deal. Lupoli is midway through a season-long loan spell at Championship high-flyers Derby County. He had shown an interest in a move to Napoli and even hinted he would consider staying with Derby if they were to be promoted to the Premiership. But the Italy Under-21 international, who scored on his debut for Pierluigi Casiraghi's men in their friendly against Luxembourg in December, has decided to join Serie A side Fiorentina instead. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm pretty certain this was on East Midlands Today as well. Oh, I stand corrected to Newham, Scunthorpe are in League 1 not League 2. I think they'll win that title now. Leeds are doomed. What a difference a season makes.

And from Soccernet-----
Lupoli signs pre-contract agreement with Fiorentina
Italian teenager Arturo Lupoli has revealed he turned down the offer of a contract extension from Arsenal in order to join Fiorentina this summer.
The 19-year-old striker has agreed a five-year contract with the Serie A club after a three-year spell in England.
Lupoli will join Fiorentina in July on a free transfer once his season-long loan spell at Championship high-flyers Derby ends.
'Arsenal offered me an important contract extension but I didn't think about it,' said Lupoli to Italian sports newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport.
'I am already looking for a house in Florence.'
Lupoli admitted his decision to return home was taken six months ago.
'Last summer I went with Arsenal to Austria and Arsene Wenger told me the need for me to play elsewhere on loan in order to have more playing time,' he said.
'I have adapted well to England but I have made a life choice and I couldn't say no to Fiorentina.'
Lupoli has no regrets about his spell in England, having left Parma at the age of 16 to join the Gunners.
'It has been three important years,' he said. 'I have learned so much from champions like Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp.'
The Italy under-21 international claimed he had been a target for several Serie A clubs, including local rivals Inter and AC Milan.
'Inter, Milan, Udinese, Napoli and Torino had shown an interest in me, so did Valencia,' he said.
'But in the end, I chose Fiorentina.
'Florence is a beautiful city, it is an ambitious club that points towards youth.'
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I should also note that Fiorentina are 8th in Serie A. Mr Lupoli could well be playing in Europe next season. Top 6 clubs in Italy qualify for Europe.
This quote, 'Inter, Milan, Udinese, Napoli and Torino had shown an interest in me, so did Valencia', pretty much sums up why Derby had little hope of keeping him. Don't get me wrong Derby have turned themselves around this year and look to be building a decent team, but when Inter and Valencia are after your star player, he's not going to stick around.
